After listening to some unwanted advice and as planned earlier landed here at around 9.30 at night. We were lucky that we got stay and food at this time. Nice clean room, bathroom and overall place. The cook gave us chapati, dal, rice, vegetable, papad, pickel and surprisingly fish fry at 10 o'clock at night. Yummy This place is very quiet and typical Parsee home converted into resort. This place is so quiet that even murmuring is loud. Beach is very close-by. It was low tide, so we could go way far into water. For marine life watchers I would definitely recommend wearing shorts and floaters. There was nobody except a few cows. A good place for star gazing as well, next time maybe. To visit this place one needs to have some form of vehicle, 2 wheeler, 4 wheeler or atleast hire a Rick for a day who will take you around. I going back for sure, are you joining me? :)

Tapovan reminds me of trips to my Grandpa's home in the village. The retreat is designed to help a budget holiday but not compromising on cleanliness and excellent care with sumptuous food. The beach is right across the property. The tide ebbs and flows on this beach and its one of the safest beaches on the western Coast. In my years going to Bordi I have never heard of a single ill incident on the beach. Food is another huge attraction in Bordi- Bordi is a orchard paradise. From Tadi, to Coconut Water, to Mangoes to Chicooks and Lichis, its all in the Bordi Market which is 3 minutes walk from Tapovan. If you don't expect 5 Star Amenities you are sure to have a great time.

Bordi is a small and quiet place away from the hussle and bussle of city life. I have stayed at Tapovan twice and enjoyed with friends. It offers an economical quiet stay, clean hygenic home made food and friendly caretakers. It's a nice weekend getaway whether you want to go with family or friends. Free parking is also available. Close to the beach as well. If you are interested in a simple getaway which is good value for money and to spend some quality fun time with loved ones you'll love this place!

The Tapovan Retreat is half portion of an old Parsi bungalow converted in to a hotel accommodation. The name Tapovan has ref. to the stay of Swami Chinmayanand there in the past during his Bordi Visit ( as narrated by the Manager Mr Raut). There is an old wing, part of the original bungalow and another part added later. Bordi is a small town, but still is a Gram Panchayat which reflects in the facilities available at the place. Tapovan Retreat is probably the mid-segment accommodation available at Bordi. The rooms are like old house in a small town. The pictures on net / website creates a different impression, but the place is small with no much open spaces to move around or loiter. The beds and furniture, including the mattresses and bed-sheets etc are old and over used. Although towels and napkins are provided, anyone who cares for personal hygiene should carry their own. The bathrooms and rooms are clean though, with functioning noisee window ac and small 18-24 inch cable TV. Although power supply is a problem at Bordi, the Hotel has power back up. There is a restaurant which serves Tea / coffee, BF and meals, but you have to order your meal at least 4 hours in advance, so we did not have an opportunity to have any lunch / dinner there. But the breakfast we had there was nice. The place is economical VFM if you are looking for one. But good for at the most one or two nights as there isn't much to do either at the retreat ( except for sleeping in the room) or at Bordi too.
