What's Good: Room Pool Garden
What needs to improve : Food
Reason For Rating : Our initial booking was shifted to Ranakpur Hill Resort. Kitchen services were not up to the mark. Otherwise it is a lovely property

Hotel Shivika Lake is located on Highway are of Ranakpur, as we felt its very expensive to get accommodation in ranakpur, this hotel is between nature surrounding total money valued, rooms were so small but we had managed to live, because outside view and surrounding was amazing, we enjoyed to eat snacks and dinner outside they arranged space for us, every where it was amazing peaceful area, hotel staff was kind and helpful we cant get facility which we expected at luxury hotel, but overall enjoyed to stay over there.

Most of the accommodation in Ranakpur is high end and VERY expensive, set off the main highway. This place is right in the forest next to the stunning lake Shivika and has a wonderful 'at one with nature' feel about it. The rooms are little cottages, so very private and although basic they are clean with plenty of hot water. We were the only guests but the manager arranged a dinner & delicious breakfast for us. Really enjoyed the peace & tranquility here.

We stayed there for three nights in early February of 2016. The place is a bit run down and seems neglected by the owners, who don't live there. The resident manager does his best to provide a reasonable stay and decent food, and occasionally succeeds! Go there if you enjoy being close to nature and like open spaces, not if you are looking for urban comforts. We were apprehensive, given the reviews, but in the end enjoyed our stay. The lake close by is a great place to be at sunset and (if you are lucky) spot the resident crocodile! The place is cheap, but given cost of alternatives in the area, reasonable value for money.

We took the owner's advice and booked through Agoda. No wonder they want you to pay before arriving, as you wouldn't stay otherwise! We were concerned by the reviews, but as the location seemed good, we went ahead. We urge you not to! On our arrival, no one knew of our booking, the owners being away in Jodhpur had not informed anyone. So we had a good look at the rooms before selecting one: there were no other guests staying. The rooms are basically ok, but check the sheets for cleanliness. Hot water needs to be asked for as a fire needs to be made to heat the water, and the toilet outflows are barely 2metres away down the slope behind the buildings, and are clearly visible. The site beyond the cottages is a tip of garbage and unused/broken equipment. The unforgivable aspect of this place is the complete disinterest of the owners. They arrived back by lunchtime and as good as ignored us, while eating their lunch in the same filthy room with mice scurrying. She also checked her child's nappy in our full view. Lunch was a meagre affair and ours was very different from what the owners were having. Dinner was also pitiable and the male owner attempted to serve. He has no hospitality skills whatsoever.Night time was peaceful and the beds were OK. Breakfast the next morning was a farce. Meanly presented, they ran out of butter and had an extremely limited offering. Our places had not been cleared from the previous evenings dinner and the tables are thick with dust. We resolved to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay. Lunch was excellent pizzas about 2km in the opposite direction from the beautiful temple, dinner and the following breakfast was at Roopma next door (also has rooms and cottages). Oh, and the owners left again after our first night and left us with the friendly but utterly clueless staff. This is the worst place we have stayed on a 7 week trip, and it is the saddest as the owners clearly do not care at all. Also, there are no bikes, treks, swimming pool (has been converted over) , or when we were there, tents. Do not go here!!!

Location is the best thing which I liked about this place. The rooms are pretty OK. But if tried could have a better look. Now about the food the cook was quit moody our first dinner was terrible but after that day he served a great food. It is a silent and peaceful place to get refreshed. Toilets were clean, Hot water was one of the problem, suggested to have a water heater in the Bathrooms. Nice place for Bird watching and nature lovers. Would love to be there soon.
