    Reason For Rating : Since we already had stayed in Summit property in Gangtok, we were assured of a similar experience in Pelling as well and it did meet our expectations. We were welcomed in a traditional way and also served hot tea at the reception. The rooms were excellent and really clean & comfortable, beyond any doubt. The hotel has no lifts. The staff members were really courteous. All rooms have a small balcony and we were lucky to have a wonderful view of Mt. Kanchenjunga from the room balcony as well as from the hotel terrace. All rooms had temperature controlled mattresses, hot water facility in bathing area and wash basin. Room heater was also provided and very effective. Room decor and bathroom could be improved. Geyser took a lot of time to serve hot water. There was power cuts frequently and we expected the staff members to switch on the generator even before we asked them to do so. The restaurant was really classy. There was one heater placed in the restaurant which was not adequate for all hotel guests seated in the restaurant, especially at night time. The restaurant staff were really welcoming. The food was of good quality, especially the white sauce pasta. The breakfast menu was also very exhaustive. The sandwiches and masala omelette were excellent. The milk served was a bit watery and hence needs to be improved. More stuffing is required in Aloo paratha. The restaurant had a bar counter which we did not try though.

    What's Good: The hotel is well located with a perfect view of Kanchenjunga. It is ideal for a small place like Pelling The staff is quite cooperative. Specially Geeta and Adiesh.. We are very frequent travelers and haven't seen such excellent hospitality before.

    What's Good: Summit Newa Residency can be run more efficiently. The front desk reservation folks need to be more customer centric and helpful. Their help for arranging transportation for local sightseeing and transfers in Pelling was pathetic when compared to experiences with other hotels during recent trip to the area. We lost half a day on day 1 and again more than half a day on day 2. After confirming to us twice that our vehicle would arrive for our local sightseeing, the vehicle(s) did not arrive and in the meantime, the charges we were supposed to pay for the vehicle were increasing arbitrarily. Happened twice on two days. The hotel staff wanted the money for travels to be paid to them! The reason attributed for the disappearing travel vehicles by the hotel staff was that it was peak season and travel company vehicles were demanding more money and not sticking to agreements with the hotel ! Also the in-house restaurant needs to keep sufficient food at the buffet. Most of the times the food in the vessels was empty even when buffet was just starting. Apparently they seem to provide very less quantity in the buffet and only on asking, they bring the food. The restaurant staff was however very nice and friendly and are an asset to the hotel.

  • try to get room in first floor as properties in pelling doesn't have lifts.
