Phalodi is the largest town of the Jodhpur district, located in the royal state of Rajasthan. Owing to a large number of salt producing companies in the area, this place is also known as the ‘Salt City'. Around Phalodi, there are several popular tourist destinations such as Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Nagaur.
Phalodi tourist attractions include the Phalodi Fort, which was constructed in the year 1488 by Rao Suja's grandson, Hamir Singh. There are many renowned religious places in proximity to the fort, which include the Kalyan Raoji's Temple. This ancient temple was constructed in the year 1230. The Latiyal Devi Temple and Shantinath Temple are the two other ancient temples situated in the town. Parasnath Jain Temple, constructed in the year 1847, can also be visited whilst enjoying a stay in Phalodi.
Apart from the aforementioned shrines, travellers can pay obeisance to the Jambaji Temple and Ramdevra Temple. Tourists can also visit the ancient Jain pilgrimage centre, which is famously known as Osiyan. This religious centre is located at a distance of few kilometres from Phalodi. If time permits, travellers can also visit, the Khican Sanctuary, which is just 5 km away. This place is a treat for the bird watchers as a wide variety of migratory and resident birds are found here.
Travellers can plan Phalodi tour in the winter season, which extends between the months of October and January. Tourists can enjoy sightseeing in its best way during this time, but they are advised to carry light woollens.
