Pinjore, a residential township at an elevation of 1800 ft above the sea level, is located in the Panchkula district of Haryana. Lying between Chandigarh and Shimla, the destination offers visitors picturesque views of the Shivalik Hills. The sprawling Pinjore Gardens are the prominent amongst the Pinjore attractions. These were designed by the architect Nawab Fidai Khan during the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Later, the gardens were renovated by Yadavindra Singh; therefore, these are also known as Yadavindra Gardens.
The Pinjore Gardens, which boast of the Rajasthani-Mughal style architecture, are visited by a number of tourists for relaxing and picnicking. These gardens, laid in seven terraces, look magnificent with Shish Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Rang Mahal and Jal Mahal. Adjoining this place is a zoo, where a large variety of animals as well as birds can easily be spotted.
During the Pinjore tour, travellers can also visit the Bhima Devi Temple Complex, which still restores the ruins of an ancient Hindu temple that was built during the 8th-11th century. The architecture and sculptures of this shrine resemble to those of Bhubaneshwar and Khajuraho temples. Besides exploring local attractions, tourists can attend Baisakhi and Mango Festival.
Other things to do in Pinjore include a visit to the HMT unit, shopping for handicrafts and tasting the local cuisine. From Pinjore, tourists can head towards Chandigarh, which is around 30-35 minutes drive away. Kasauli, a hill station popular for its 'Monkey Point', Baptist Church and Christ Church, can also be visited during the trip.
