It's a beautifully restored old french bungalow. The location is wonderful, you can see everything there is to see in white town in one day, cafes, beach, promenade everything is easily walk able from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and will make you feel at home. Our room was on first floor right adjacent to the lobby,so it gets little noisy in the morning. But other then that room was very comfortable, filled with antiques, beautiful four poster bed. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. Ordered biryani(it was made from some local grain and not rice) for dinner and i must say it was delicious, fresh, something that we have never had before. This place is just perfect to slow down,Relax and find meaning in simple things in life..!!

Fantastic stay. Stalin and the chef were very helpful with food requirements. Beautiful architecture and great and helpful front desk. Great position one block from the sea.The best hotel i have stayed in on this trip to India.

Very friendly staff with gorgeous creole food (indian and french mixed) Marvellous tiger prawn with Indian touch. Fried egg rice perfectly cooked Crepes with Honey were pretty good and I have enjoyed my daily mint lime juice. Stew seafood mix was ok, I have found it a bit too salty and not so fancy. Roasted chicken was a wonder however. Staff very helpful with kids, they even let them touch the piano. This old colonial house is perfect to have your kids running around and so nice to seat on a gold spot finding yourself like a pacha! A must try in pondicherry!

So we stayed here on our recent visit to Pondicherry to visit couple of friends there. The hotel is beautiful and has re-stored the old world charm but it is a lil too old world. Hotel Restaurant They do not have room service by rule. However the cafe area is really sweet and the Creoule cuisine was good. Infact it was fairly empty hence we would have a private dinning time with our friends. The tea and filter coffee, juices were good. But the breakfast spread is not impressive. Hotel Premises This is impressive. As you can see from the pictures. It has a certain charm to it. There are Raja Ravi Verma posters everywhere and in the room, so that was something to look out for. Room - The rooms were funny. Very old world, so much so that the bathroom is an open bathroom with only curtains, no doors. We felt so awkward that we have to ask the other person to leave the room every time someone had to us the washroom. - The bed is unusually high. - The AC unlike any, is kept in a wooden box in the corner of the room so the floor really becomes cold which is quite hilarious. - The door of the room are wooden and noise travels easily. Our room had a door which opened to another room and the romantic people there decided to play loud romantic songs at 1:30am. We called the reception and complained after which the volume was reduced but could still be heard clearly. Ultimately my husband had to go down to the reception area and personally make sure that the music was turned off. - The rooms has these weird old human figures which stare down at you from open bathrooms and are a bit creepy. - The water geyser is actually a boiler, so it takes time for water to heat up. - The bath area had a brass bucket and mug which was unique. - The shampoo and shower gel in small glass bottles. - The soap was a small bar which had a great natural fragrance. - Rooms are clean Service The restaurant staff was sweet. The service staff was unhinged with all the issues. They were not rude, they were ready to help but what do you do with the issues stated above. Room Cost - The rooms are too expensive for these issues. - Would recommend staying in Villa Shanthi or Le Dupliex instead.

This is a storied place - restored from near ruin in the '90s, it's a beautifully renovated old colonial home, run by really friendly staff. It's in the perfect location to wander out and explore old Pondicherry. We loved our room on the second floor at the back of the property with a private balcony - very beautiful and quiet, filled with antique furnishings; the wonderful bed particularly was memorable - being three and a half feet off the ground and requiring a set of steps to climb up to it. Breakfast was the only meal we ate at the hotel, and it was good - lots of options. The hotel has recently been taken over by the Dune group, and we hope they plan to keep the atmosphere and charm that defines the place intact.
