The guest house - and it's a guest house, not a hotel - is charming, excellent location. Plumbing is a bit outlandish (no hot water at the washing basin, only for the shower). Don't choose a room at the ground floor if you are noise sensitive (next to the reception) and not on the third or fourth floor if you have a lot of luggage or if you are not willing/able to climb a narrow staircase. Although the airconditioning is individual neither the fan speed nor the temperature can be adjusted. Choose carefully the agency you are booking with: booking.com overcharged us. Breakfast is good but you need to order what you want.

This little white coloured building is located right at the backside of the beach road. Though none of the rooms offer a view of the sea, the terrace that houses the cafe has a good view. They have a total of around 7-8 rooms, and each one has a personality theme. Mine was named Gandhi, and the decor had a frame with information regarding him. There are just 2 rooms on each floor, one with a mini balcony, and the other without (mine was the latter). There was just shaft area to open the room windows to. However, the cozy common room on each floor is such a delight to look at! Winding back up, I had booked a room for two nights via Booking.com, and then had to get in touch with the property's owner via mail to confirm that I would be coming in. I wanted to make the payment beforehand, and avoid carrying that much cash (there is no payment via booking.com), so they provided me with their bank details and I did the transfer. They were quite prompt in getting back with the confirmation. It cost me around 4700, and considering I was travelling alone, it felt a bit much. Can't complain, because the concept of a single room now looks like a thing of the past. And I was hell bent on finding a room near the sea. I reached the guesthouse on the afternoon of 9th September, 2019. I was shown the way to my room, and also given leaflets for exploring the places nearby. The room was on second floor, and a narrow staircase led the way to it. The room itself was very beautiful! It was kind of love at first sight for me. The amenities were pretty limited, though. -Soap in the bathroom -Toilet roll -Water in a bottle and glasses -Towels -The tea kit was in the common are, and so was a mini fridge. And that was pretty much it. The beach is barely a five minutes walk away. So, I didn't have to worry about parking my scooty in the overcrowded spaces in the evening, when vehicular traffic is restricted on the Beach Road. As everyone has already mentioned, the breakfast is great! And this is no exaggeration. Both the vegetarians and non-vegetarians have options to look out to, and the beverages are equally good. As I said, I found it a little expensive in the sense that it does not have a room service that justifies the price. The location and the property, though, are thoroughly lovable!

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy guesthouse right in white town. Youre just 5 minutes walking away from beach and several nice restaurants and bars. Most of all we enjoyed the breakfast every morning at the roof terrace. Also the staff was extremely helpful and we felt like home and totally comfortable. Highly recommend this place.

the guest house is in the French quarter very close to the beach Hearty breakfast included in the room price. The room is cleaned daily and the bath sheets are also changed. Only "hic", the restaurant is on the 3rd floor which is a bit painful for seniors.

L'Escale is a nice hotel located about 100 meters from the Promenade. My wife and I really enjoyed our short stay here. The rooms were clean and well designed with good air conditioning. The staff was really friendly and ensured that our stay was comfortable. A delicious French style breakfast is served on the picturesque terrace starting 8 AM . This is a must try at least once if you like eggs, croissants and french bread. They also sell homemade jams which are really good as well. Few things I would like to call out, although none of these were a problem for us at all - 1. There is no TV in the rooms 2. The bathrooms do not have doors. The entrance is covered with a curtain instead. The bathroom however is in a niche (at least in the room that we were in) and not visible from the main part of the room 3. There is no elevator. So if one is housed in one of the upper rooms, then the only mode of access is a slightly steep stairway 4. This is a breakfast hotel. So other meals are not served at the property. This is really not a problem as you have some really great food options very close to L'Escale Finally, I would like to give a special shout-out to Mr. Bharathi who made sure we had a great stay. He even allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel after check-out since our bus was not until later that night. All in all, this is a great place to stay for couples and families. Oh and yes, all this comes at a very reasonable price!
