As mentioned on website it's a self catering guest house... Location is 2 km main road into woods and it's isolated place They hire this place for meditation specially for people travelling g from abroad... Ur not allowed to cook nonveg.....infact they r bit hesitant in allowing u in ther kitchen ....although it's mentioned self catering.....rooms r just ok....but location is quit n peaceful .... If ur looking for meditation...an ideal place... But if ur looking for fun ....it's miserable....

Tenderness Guest house is a self catering accomodation in Auro ville. It is almost 12 km far from pondy. It is a wonnderful place to stay though little isolated. I have been here for 3 days and i really enjoyed the stay. Here you have option for rooms, villas and cottages. I would say it is far better than staying in the four walls of a hotel room on a busy street. Here you can go along with the nature.. there are options for practice Yoga, and Kitchen is open 24 hours where you can cook your food. Staffs are very friendly and cooperative. Pros:- Far from polluted city. Can feel the true nature. Calm quiet atmosphere Friendly staffs In international township Options for cooking Nominal fare Corns:- Isolated No food available Premises are not very clean No hot water options Common bathroom for Standard rooms

We paid 1100 rp for a double room with no wifi and only cold water and two beds, no chairs. It is a km from Main Street and about 6 km from Auroville Center. There is a shared kitchen, which was always occypied of some very unfriendly French guests, who would not speak with us. We had to pay for the day we arrived even though it was very late, and full price for the day we left as well. Also we had to pay 1000 rp for the rickshaw from Pondicherry and he even asked for an extra 200 rp, for as the driver said, he was a very poor man. This was the most expensive experience we had in the two months we travelled around in India. Positives: The owner was kind and helpful and there was clean and quiet. As we arrived late and were very hungry, he drove us to a nearby place to buy some food and stof, which was a great help.

Stayed here in January 2015 at a yoga course (the terrace on the roof of the main house is great for yoga!). We got three indian meals a day, which were all very tasty, and the people working here were really lovely and helpful (it is run by a family which also lives there). Basic facilities; I stayed in a quite small room (not in the main building) with no hot water or toilet paper provided, but there was a fan in the room. Also, there is wi-fi in the dining area by the main house. The place is quite secluded in the woods (and hard to find for taxi drivers who don't know the place), but it only takes about ten minutes to walk to the main road where you find shops, ATMs, places to eat and rickshaws to get around. I can recommend Pizzeria Tanto to the right on the main road, to the left there is a cafe called Farm Fresh, whis is really nice.

I feel bad of giving the above title and this is my first NEGATIVE response to a place I have stayed. It was a discriminated treatment that we as a Family received (do not touch those plates, they (Yoga participants from different part of the world for Srima Yoga center) will not like it). It was just a mess up that I did for myself and my family for choosing this place to stay on the first week of this year (never forgettable). No basic courtesy at all while it is displayed as if they are concerned (truly artificial). A typical example is, when my wife was enquiring what is that we can see in this place to Mr. Ganesh, she was responded stating " You are here, you (literally 'Nee' in Tamil - such a disrespect) ask me what you need to see or visit and I will tell you about it" This is just an amazing response and we were taken aback by the friendliness & became silent and used the space just for sleeping and getting out of the premises in the morning and heading back only post 8 pm IST. I had my medicine before breakfast (day 2) and supposed to wait for 30 mins, his staff states if you complete your breakfast late, when will I clean up the place :( (the time was 9 AM :() while on the other hand a foreigner is still at the dining area having breakfast. This is truely discriminating in whatever lanuguage (it was tamil though) that they chose to say. We were asked INR.20 per bucket of hot water for taking bath as there was no heater in the bathroom. Not sure if the other rooms had & if it was truly discriminating too. Also the room was to the back side of the one that you see in the picture (Ground + 1), room was good however staying opposite to a septic tank was unacceptable (I strongly recommend not to choose that room), I chose to get off this place the next day morning and spoke to Mr.Ganesh. I was told since I blocked it for 3 days I do not have a choice for opting out :( Food - Bland food (not continental though), the reason given was "foreigners around" and they wont like Indian food (which cant be true always), discrimination again as if we didnt pay a single penny :( Second, please look at the pictures posted by me which shows the actual Kitchen where food is cooked (you will have a blend of pet animals around - a bunch of cats and a dog which can be called pets but how hygenic it is matters, but not where you cook and place the cooked food). WiFi - No network in my room, second, the bunch of Staff and Kids use it for watching series in Tamil channels & movies which eventually eats up the bandwidth, even if the WiFi works, it is literally of no use as you will not get a decent speed. Thankfully I didnt have that hit me since I didnt have Wifi only... Finally, the day before our departure (last Sunday), Mr. Ganesh checked to us on our departing time, I replied 3PM and he replied I have to vacate by 12 as per rules (he was showing a placard which was supposed to be in my room and was not placed by his staff) & was considerate to relax it to a max of 1PM while I told him I checked in on Thurday at 7 PM and the website was saying 24 hours checkout. He responded back with a reason, this is peak season and he will have to make revenue only now. He was too considerate to give me a 50% discount for the dinner we took on the day of arrival as I commented on it & nullify the charges of breakfast since I told him we tried a mouthful (idlies) & it was pathetic. Please beware of this place and be prepared before you land there as I felt treating someone like Human being with respect is equally important atleast for the price you pay during a vacation.
