What's Good: staff accommodated early checkin and late checout.
What needs to improve : non-AC rooms are swamped with mosquitoes at night. Too bad we booked the so-called naturally-cooled rooms. Liked in the day. But suffered at night.
Reason For Rating : lunch buffet costs 750/pax. no alacarte choices. We have had to spend 5k+ for lunch. It can be less expensive or alacarte choices can be given.

What's Good: We stayed at the Sambu House. Unique experience. Its def worth the money. Easy access to the beach, swimming pool, good food. You can even milk a cow there. We went cycling around the resort. The house we stay was a thatched house with modern amenities. Will def recommend it!

This was my second stay (from 7th Oct to 10th Oct) at the dune and definitely many many more to come. I had stayed here last year in October as well and had an amazing time at the Dune. A special mention would go out to Mr. Shubojit who ensured that me and my wife had a wonderful stay at the Granite house last time. This was the main reason I returned this year with my dad, mom, wife and our cute little Beagle Chanel, to celebrate my dad's 75th Birthday. This time we booked the Family House 1, which is perfect for a family of four and is also pet friendly. Even though my dads birthday was on the 5th oct and we checked on the 7th, Mr. Shubojit and team had planned for a special breakfast for my dad on the 8th, which really made us feel special, I personally liked their food(specially the home made ice cream) and the restaurant team is very friendly and efficient. The team at the Dune is very polite helpful and efficient. Its a massive property but their room service is so quick that it would put some of the big hotel chains to shame. The property also has a nice private beach. For couples I would recommend the granite House and for families with pets the Family house 1 is perfect. Our Chanel would rate the property 7 star as she had ample space to move around. This place is completely set in the midst of nature and greenery and the property is marketed as an eco village, so there are bound to be some insects in the garden area but none harmful or dangerous, in fact you get to see some really colourful insects minding their own business. This place gives an amazing feeling of being in midst of nature. The rooms were air conditioned, nice and clean and house keeping boy was really efficient in ensuring that the rooms are cleaned thoroughly. We had a wonderful time at the dune and in fact we stayed an extra night. Thank you so much Mr. Shubojit and team, we will be back soon with some more friends and family.

Before my recent visit, my wife and I stayed at this resort in Apr 2013 and we loved every minute of our stay. The staff was welcoming and the experience was overall splendid. However, the last visit which was from 5 - 7 Oct'18 with my parents, was absolutely "disappointing" to put it very bluntly. This resort which was very well maintained 5 years ago is in absolute shambles. What makes me say so? A few pointers - 1) It was raining the day we arrived at the resort, so we had to take the help of a buggy to take us to our respective rooms, the seats were soggy and wet. Although this may sound a little picky, this is a 5-star resort and they should have this covered. 2) The play area is in a bad taste. Everything from the swing to the seating area is either broken or absolutely out of shape. 3) The flies - the no. of flies in the "Fun Restaurant" is unbelievable. The staff is least bothered and no one cares. You literally cannot have a peaceful meal during the day - breakfast or lunch. 4) The rooms are in bad shape, especially the air-cooled rooms with plenty of insects. It is not even lit properly. We had to use our torches to see through to our bed. 5) Not child-friendly - if you have a toddler or a young child, advice not to take them there 6) Even if you decide to stay - it is too expensive for the facilities they provide. You can surely get a better place at the same price in Pondicherry. Overall, I rate it 2 stars, primarily because the food was good. The restaurant's food was good and that's about it. That's the only thing they have going for them. Otherwise it is an absolute "waste for your money".

The Dune Eco Village & Spa sits pretty between the East Coast Road and a stunning beach, some 15 kms away from Pondicherry. I visited it with my wife and found it extremely charming. Theres a lot to look forward to here. A stay that will stay with you: We chose a little hut with a thatched roof. The bed was so comfortable, we decided to stay in and skip some of the activities at the resort. Have some homely food: Delicious home-style food was served piping hot. It was good, but not quite something you'd write home about. Live the village life: Well, while we missed milking the cow, we went for a pottery class and cycled around the property. Yes, there are 2 cycles parked outside every room. Get your feet wet: A private beach is a stones throw away. You can hear the waves from your room, especially at night. While the pristine shoreline is strewn with shells and stones, the sea is rough with strong undercurrents and the coastline descends suddenly and abruptly into the sea. So if you want to go for a swim, try the pool at the property instead. Go on an art walk: Mr. Varghese took us on a tour of the property and showed us many wonderful rooms and villas across the 40-acre property. Some of their doors are pieces of art, with intricate woodwork and fascinating locks and keys. The walls are masterpieces, painted by renowned artists who have stayed there. Feel like royalty: Everyone, from the buggy driver to the bartender to Mr. Sunil Varghese, was courteous. They treated us like royalty even though this property is frequented by celebs. Get a body guard: Suri, the friendly-neighborhood dog, accompanies you to your room and stays guard till you turn off the lights. He maybe big and scary-looking, but hes a good dog. All in all, its a great place to stay at if youre staying for a minimum of 3 to 4 days (time enough to explore the property as well as Pondis quaint cafes, Auroville and cheese factories). There are rickshaws ply to Pondi (they charge Rs. 200/300), or you can wait for the state transport bus. A word of caution: Check the weather before booking your stay. We visited the property in June, thinking it will be raining there but it was 42*C. To make matters worse, we opted for a room without air conditioning. Well, thats on us.
