  • Pearl harbour must see

    by T8842TUjamesw on

I have been twice and it still makes the hairs on the back of your neck prickle even if your not interested in 2nd world war like my wife even she found it very humbling try to see as much as possible while your there. Like I said I have done it twice and still not seen it all what an amazing tribute to all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice

  • A memorable and inspiring day

    by anatopreviewer on

A description of Pearl Harbor just wouldnt fo it justice. Its a must-see so just go and do it but what I can try to do is offer some helpful hints and tips. We took the local bus from Waikiki and it took around 45 minutes and cost $2.75. You can go on an organized tour but we decided to go it alone. The bus stops directly outside so we just headed to the entrance. Tip #1 - NO BAGS allowed, nope not even a handbag so you have to leave all your belongings in the bag drop area for $5. You can take in just your purse and phone and a cap (very important as it is scorching hot throughout). Shame we didnt put a small sunscreen in our pocket (and yes we got sunburnt ). You then go through security and straight ahead is the ticketing office. Each place has an individual ticket: USS BOWFIN SUBMARINE USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL USS MISSOURI BATTLESHIP AVIATION MUSEUM We did places 1-3. The first 1,000 tickets of the day are free for the USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL, which we managed to get. On the ticket you are allocated a specific time for the short film about the history of Pearl Harbor (super interesting and informative), lasts about 20 minutes. We had about 45 mins before our allocated time so we went and saw the USS BOWFIN SUBMARINE first and had about 15 minutes to spare before the short film (which you need to arrive and stand in line for the film). Tip #2 - if you sit to the left of the screen youll exit faster because once the film finishes, you board a boat to go and view the USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL up close. You cant enter the memorial as the dock is under repair but you can get close for pictures. The boat trip lasts around 20 minutes Id say. After that we headed to the shuttle that takes you to the USS MISSOURI BATTLESHIP. Tip#3 take water with you as it is scorching hot on the battleship, plus there is a long wait to get on s d for the shuttle back. Again we didnt take a guided tour but there is that option. We just followed the green arrows which will take you around the whole ship in the correct order and its one way, so the stairs you climb will not be the ones you go back down. Tip #4, treat all stairs like a ladder or climb down facing them as you would climbing up them. As I mentioned the shuttle back has long lines and we didnt get on the first shuttle so again its scorching hot so make sure you have water and try to find shade whilst waiting in line. The returning shuttle goes to the AVIATION MUSEUM first and then back to the entrance. The bus back to Waikiki is NOT where you got off the bus when you arrived. Its up on the freeway just to the left of where you came in. Hope this gives you some insight into the logistics of the visit but as for the feelings and impressions, well thats personal to each and everyone. We are not American but it sure left a lasting impression on us!

  • Sad yet amazing

    by Jo A on

Pearl harbour is beautiful sad and interesting. Its a great way to really immerse yourself in what happened on that sad day. A definite must to visit in Honolulu. Despite the Arizona memorial being closed the Navy gentlemen took us by launch to see it.

  • Beautiful property, but not we....

    by sandeepgochar on

Location is good, but property is very far from airport or Jetty and you will be charged 1500 for the cab to the resort for one side from airport room was not clean and also property was not well maintained. Also nobody can enter into water or walk by sea due to crocodile attack fear. Only 2-3 rooms were occupied by guests in such a big property. Overall the stay was not comfortable and not value for money, though the satff were polite.
