This is by far the worst hotel I have stayed in Puri. Booked a non ac super delux sea facing room in third floor from Kolkata office but the room was not a sea view room, only a few feet of sea is visible from balcony over the shipping corporation building, no view of the beach or road, television not working, after repeated request they didnot fix the problem, no intercom in the room, the flush in the comode was out of order and they didnot fix it either, taps in bathroom were dysfunctional, walls and floor were damp, no room service, they don't even provide drinking water also , you have to get it by yourself from the water filter installed in every floor,no room cleaning, very few restaurant staffs catering all the rooms thus causing severe delay in providing food in rooms, road used after sea bathing is in bad condition, only 2 taps for washing sands after sea bathing, very rude receptionist and travel desk manager, behaviour or the panda of the hotel is extremely poor.. overall had a pathetic 4 days in sonali hotel, never ever going there again and requesting everyone to avoid this hotel at any cost..

I had been to Puri with my family and stayed at Hotel Sonali from July 22-28, 2018 and gathered worst experience. The proverb "All that gliters is not gold" is truly applicable for this hotel. In the middle of April 2018 I booked one non-ac room @900/- per day from its Kolkata Office . When I entered the room I found both the room and the balcony were very small and untidy. There were other horrible things waiting for me. The telephone numbers for Room Service, Reception etc. were displayed on the wall. I tried to ask for a cup of tea through intercom but found that the same was not working. During my seven days stay the intercom was in dead condition inspite of repeated requests to the Reception. The TV was also not working. Till leaving the hotel the TV set was a mere show piece on the wall. My room was on 2nd floor. I came down to reception at the ground floor through staircase and asked for water and tea. On the way back when I came to the Lift I found that it was not working. The Lift did not work for two more days. Being a Senior Citizen I had to take the trouble of going to 2nd floor every time using staircase for consecutive three days. Drinking water was not provided without prompting. On each occasion I had to go to reception and request for drinking water. Sometimes they forgot to supply drinking water. In those cases I had to come down again to ground floor to remind them. There was no facility of bed tea. In the morning I observed so many boarders including myself were bringing tea from roadside tea stall. There were no door bell in the room so if anyone was in the balcony he could not hear the sound of knocking at the door. In the toilet hot water was not available. Peaceful sleep was impossible at night in the room because there were lot of mosquitoes and no mosquito repellent was provided. The only appreciable things are the location of the hotel and its restaurant. My suggestion to the intending visitor is one may have food from the restaurant but don't dare to stay at Hotel Sonali, Puri.

oh my god!!! what to say about this horrible hotel!!! anyway, lets start from the very first experience.. we went to puri by sealdah-puri Duronto express and it reached our destination at 4:00 am. then we reached the hotel by a 'magic auto' at around 4:30 am. when we reached the reception, we were told that we have to wait till 5:15 am as the receptionist won't come before the time. we literally had to wait for 45 minutes for the receptionist to come and provide our respective room keys. we had booked deluxe non-ac sea facing room. when we entered the room, we became totally disappointed after looking at the room's pathetic condition. the floor was uncleaned, condition of wall was very much poor and most importantly bathroom was a disaster. bathroom's floor was full of sands and uncleaned, dirty commode, water is falling continuously from the tap and black spot under the basin was enough to make me vomit. most importantly what they consider as sea facing was not at all like that. there is an old building in front of the hotel whose dirty roof will block the view about 70%. so having seeing the condition of the room, we asked the receptionist to change our room. he offered a room just beside the previous one that was of same condition. when we asked again for a better room (we were ready to give extra bucks) we were told that they cant provide better room than those.. so basically we had a horrible stay of two days over there. the total hotel premises is dirty. you will find eaten chicken leg outside your room, they wont provide room service every day, they wont provide you the bedsheet and the receptionist is tremendously rude. he basically doesn't know how to treat with the visitors. besides, the way to enter the hotel after sea bath is equally dirty. at the end, i can only day that if you are particular about cleanliness then please please please dont dare to stay at this hotel. it will be enough to ruin your entire trip.

We stayed in this hotel during DEC'17-JAN'18. Booking was done from Kolkata office. As this is very rush time so I got two std room. But cleverly they compelled me to book a room for an extra day and also give me the second room from night That means they collect two time fare for a single room. After reaching there I asked them when will you give me another room? Receptionist told either 8 p.m. or 10 p.m. as soon as possible. At 11 a.m. morning I saw that there was a check out beside my room and I thought that room will be given to me. I wait and wait but no call from them. Then at 5 p.m. I asked them about the room. They told me after 9 p.m. they can tell. Being impatient my mother asked them again for the room at 8 p.m. and their reply was which room? I replied room you supposed to give me. Then they said where is the bill? I showed the bill and they give me the same bill which was beside my previous room. Think they can easily gave this well before but they didn't. Now come to room service and room. They provide drinking water with mineral water bottle not taken by other borders. No jug or anything in the room No hanger in toilet. Several times I had to ask for bed sheet change and lastly we told please give me the sheet and we will manage it. But at the time of departure all are assembled to take tips. Next restaurant. They have two restaurant. One is rooftop restaurant exclusively for guest, another in ground floor "RUCHIRA" for all. If you order tea in rooftop it is better to ask whether they have sugar, milk etc. My experience is like that. Next timing of serving is pathetic. Food of RUCHIRA is quite good and prompt and tasty. To me only location is plus point of these hotel but except that all other things are worst.

Horrible pathetic behaviour in reception, they attitude shows that they r giving us rooms for free to us, they charge u out of their tariff list saying that tariff list rooms are solf out, initially receptionist ppls behaviour ll mk u as if they r showing sympathy to u giving room, i would suggest everyone not to stay over thr, n Needless to say say about their pathetic room service
