What's Good: THE APPROACH ROAD TO THE HOTEL IS WORST EVEN THAN THE VILLAGES IN PRESENT DAY INDIA. BEING SO FAR AND WITH SUCH CONDITION OF THE ROAD, THE HOTEL DOES NOT EVEN BOTHER TO PROVIDE PICK-UP/ DROP FACILITY FROM PURI RAIL STATION. THE ROOMS ARE GOOD AND WELL MAINTAINED. THE HOTEL PROPERTY IS SPREAD OVER VAST AREA, BUT HIGHLY UNDER-UTILISED. THE HOTEL TRAVEL DESK IS SPOIL-UR-HOLIDAY DESK AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY ABOLISHED. THE HOTEL SEEMS TO HAVE ITS OWN BEACH, BUT IT IS BETTER NOT VISITED. THE FOOD MENU IS SMALL. THE MORNING BREAKFAST IS EXCELLENT, BUT OTHER ITEMS ON THE LIMITED MENU IS NOT UP-TO THE MARK AND NEEDS TREMENDOUS IMPROVEMENTS. WITH PRESENT HOTEL CONDITION, I WOULD NOT ADVICE/ RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

What's Good: Hotel Infrastructure is very old, Food is below standard, Location is also in interior with no pitch road and in some village, staff are good, overall not worth for money

What's Good: Drawbacks: The approach road is very poor. The hotel tries to charge for every smallest amenity they have! It is strange to see that, in today's world, they don't have a satellite TV connection which means that the quality of cable TV signal is extremely disappointing. More so, if you are used to watching dish TV at home, you will find it very difficult to watch the limited TV channels. The food prices are too high and hotel tries to exploit the fact that people will not prefer going out in night. The transport facility is over priced. We got taxis at much cheaper rate by talking to travel agents outside the hotel. The activity room has no air-conditioning or proper fans which means you will not be able to spend too much time in the room. The choice during breakfast is limited and you will enjoy it only if your are staying for 2 days. Beyond that, it becomes monotonous. Now the good things: The swimming pool is quite a fun. The view and approach to the sea beach is easy, if the river is not flowing very high. The hotel staff is good and, atleast, tries to listen to your problems. The overall ambiance is quite relaxing. Overall, if the concerns I have mentioned above are addressed, I may actually refer this hotel to a friend.

We were in Bhubaneswar watching the Hockey World Cup and had a few days to spare between matches, So we headed down to Puri on the Bay of Bengal and stayed at the Sterling resort. What an absolute gem of a place. Just outside the city (but walkable distance along the beach). The rooms are clean, fresh and spacious. The restaurant had plenty to choose from and they are happy to cater to requests. A really nice, clean, pool and easy access to the beach. We really enjoyed our time there.

This is the last property in a line of hotels spreading from the Swargdwar (main beach are) and we choose this to stay in peace away from the hustle of the weekend and holiday crowd. Also we saw reviews and replies from the hotel and thought that they have taken care of all issues which are actually minor. But this was by far the worst hotel or resort in Puri we ever stayed. Paying a hefty sum of approx 200 USD per day for two rooms we experience the worst in hospitality, service, food and environment. Below I will list a few points in support of my observation. 1. The approach road - The approach is a bumpy road with numerous potholes which costs approx 200 INR for a one way trip to the main beach or temple. And like us, if you are unable to go with the food served in the hotel you will sure need to make 2/3 trips in a day 2. The beach - The approach road to the beach is equally bad with many areas eroding off and a risk for kids and the aged. Moreover the hotel advised t stay away after 5.30 in the evening. No beach umbrellas are provided by the hotel unles you pay for them as also for the chairs. 3. The rooms - the rooms are overpriced and just a small piece of approx 30 sft of balcony will add to the cost. We booked a Privilege Suite Room with Sea View which only had a small space to accommodate an extra bed blocking the entire room. 4. Mosquitoes - The hotel does not take care of the pools of water next to the boundary fence and they are all breeding ground of mosquitoes. The rooms, corridors, lobby all are laden with mosquitoes and I consider it a risk as the diseases spread by them can be fatal and treatment is a far cry in this destination. 5. Pool - the pool is large - however if you are Ok with men bathing in tracksuits and T shirts and women in saree and kamiz then you can sure try it. 6. Food - This was probably the worst experience. The first night we found that 3 main course item s running out and the desert plate empty - after waiting 15 mins we left. The second night the fish was rotten. On asking for the manager the floor supervisor apologised and offered us something else which was not palatable. The next night we decided going out - but the approach road and desolate nature deterred us and we went for the buffet just to be shocked with a hot and spicy platter of smelling food. The portions exhaust pretty fast and the refill takes over 30 minutes to reach. Breakfast was equally bad and most of the food was done in poor taste. Nearly every non veg food is frozen or days old though the sea is near and fresh catch is available aplenty. Even being so close to the sea - there was never a single item of sea food available in the menu or buffet. 7. Room Service - The food quality is almost same but the worst part is service as a simple order like a grilled sandwich took over one hour to reach and we were forced to cancel. 8. Wifi - The signals are low and Wifi comes at an hefty price here - so be prepared to budget properly for this hotel. 9. Staff - Mostly trainees or untrained service guys including the chef and his assistants who failed to provide an unbroken fried egg even for once. 10. 24 Hr coffeeshop is absent in this hotel For the price we paid we felt cheated as this seemed to a be neglected property and where the management is least concerned about the comfort of guests. Please avoid this property at all costs.

We had a wonderful time at Sterling. The beach is beautiful and is a few minutes of walkable distance from the reception. The view of the beach from the reception is serene. The property has been renovated recently, so the ambience in reception, restaurant and rooms are excellent. Hospitality at the resort is equally great. Appreciate the Sterling management for training the staff very well as they understand customer service to the T. The food at the restaurant is really good especially the breakfast buffet. The restaurant staff is very attentive and ever eager to assist. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay at Sterling, Puri.

Resort is quite far from temple. Auto takes 200 bucks every time you go to temple and same charges when you come back... if the 200-300 meter bumpy road patch from the resort and the auto charges do not bother you, then it is a good place to relax. Staff is helpful. Holiday activity centre is active. Food is good. Don't forget to go to the back waters near the ocean way from resort. It is the most relaxing place to be in.
