What's Good: THE APPROACH ROAD TO THE HOTEL IS WORST EVEN THAN THE VILLAGES IN PRESENT DAY INDIA. BEING SO FAR AND WITH SUCH CONDITION OF THE ROAD, THE HOTEL DOES NOT EVEN BOTHER TO PROVIDE PICK-UP/ DROP FACILITY FROM PURI RAIL STATION. THE ROOMS ARE GOOD AND WELL MAINTAINED. THE HOTEL PROPERTY IS SPREAD OVER VAST AREA, BUT HIGHLY UNDER-UTILISED. THE HOTEL TRAVEL DESK IS SPOIL-UR-HOLIDAY DESK AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY ABOLISHED. THE HOTEL SEEMS TO HAVE ITS OWN BEACH, BUT IT IS BETTER NOT VISITED. THE FOOD MENU IS SMALL. THE MORNING BREAKFAST IS EXCELLENT, BUT OTHER ITEMS ON THE LIMITED MENU IS NOT UP-TO THE MARK AND NEEDS TREMENDOUS IMPROVEMENTS. WITH PRESENT HOTEL CONDITION, I WOULD NOT ADVICE/ RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

What's Good: Hotel Infrastructure is very old, Food is below standard, Location is also in interior with no pitch road and in some village, staff are good, overall not worth for money
by Amreesh Chandra on Oct 03,2014
What's Good: Drawbacks: The approach road is very poor. The hotel tries to charge for every smallest amenity they have! It is strange to see that, in today's world, they don't have a satellite TV connection which means that the quality of cable TV signal is extremely disappointing. More so, if you are used to watching dish TV at home, you will find it very difficult to watch the limited TV channels. The food prices are too high and hotel tries to exploit the fact that people will not prefer going out in night. The transport facility is over priced. We got taxis at much cheaper rate by talking to travel agents outside the hotel. The activity room has no air-conditioning or proper fans which means you will not be able to spend too much time in the room. The choice during breakfast is limited and you will enjoy it only if your are staying for 2 days. Beyond that, it becomes monotonous. Now the good things: The swimming pool is quite a fun. The view and approach to the sea beach is easy, if the river is not flowing very high. The hotel staff is good and, atleast, tries to listen to your problems. The overall ambiance is quite relaxing. Overall, if the concerns I have mentioned above are addressed, I may actually refer this hotel to a friend.

Far from the bustle of the crowded golden beach, Sterling Puri is in a quiet and serene part of the estuary, with private access to the estuary and beach. You get to view the sunrise and hear the waves. The renovated resort is well appointed and well maintained. The hospitality is world class and food is great. With this resort as the hub, one can cover all the heritage sites in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konarak, Buddhist circuit, Chilika lake etc.

I have been to multiple resorts of Sterling. This one wasn't one of the best yet it has its plus and minuses. 3 reasons why one should stay at Sterling Puri: 1) It is at the fag end of Puri where Dhaudia River meets the Bay of Bengal. Perhaps, the only place which can boast of a private secluded clean beach + River side + Swimming pool in Puri. Beach was absolutely neat and clean without any one else and walk towards the river was magical. 2) They have a great kids activity room with tons of games, play area, carrom, TT, Jenga, Air Hockey, Pool. They even had a DJ dance party for us on Janmashtami where kids could enjoy dance floor too. They also have different activities to keep kids engaged. 3) Third reason is F&B manager Attar. In this resort, where almost everyone has a cold attitude and you dont feel the warmth of Sterling. Mr Attar will bend backwards to make your stay outstanding. We didnt like Buffet at restaurant as kids found it spicy. He made sure that there is something for kids. Multiple reasons why you shouldn't stay at Sterling: 1. Hotel is at the fag end of Puri and you have to go through bad bumpy road to reach there. No public transport / auto to go to city from here. No restaurants nearby. 2. Bad network connectivity and they charge for Wifi. Which era are they living in? 3. We chose a sea view room. No complaints with rooms as such but to see Sea, one has to go to balcony and then look at see. 4. Overall attitude of staff was cold and no one was interested in delighting customers 5. Food at the restaurant is expensive and buffet spread isn't great. So you can choose for yourself if plus outweighs negatives or other way round :)

Puri, the name itself opens the floodgate of nostalgia in a bongs mind. Probably, the first tour with parents, the first sea, the first crush with the girl in the conducted tour- khaja, anything.. and everything. I frankly, do not want to elaborate anything on the sight-seeing and visuals in Puri- much better writers have written about it a lot of times. But, what I want to write about here is the Puri beyond the usual puri. Probably, all the bengalis have been to puri- at least once. But, till date, this other side is very less explored. This piece is a modest attempt on my trip to Sterling Resorts Puri. First things first, we went to Sterling Holiday Resorts to visit their Puri property for a vacation on a FAM trip invited by the management. So, it was an early morning flight and the serenity of the early morning Kolkata airport getting disturbed by the nonstop nonsense of 10 crazy people from Kolkata. We were travelling to Bhubaneswar Airport and from there, via car, to Sterling Resorts Puri. One thing Ive always noticed. The travel arrangements of these large organizations are mostly seamless and our cars were waiting just outside the airport with the pickup. It was 1.5 hours journey from Bhbubaneswar airport to Sterling Resort Puri. We had just left Bhubaneswar and somewhere near Pipli, I actually managed to stop the car at a roadside dhaba. Now, let me be honest. I am biased towards food and moreover, these roadside dhabas. So, this was no exception. And as long the Vadas and Idlis are hot and there is a variety of Sweets (including the Pahala Rasogolla), who cares ? Once you reach Puri and move towards Mohana from Swargadwar, Sterling Resorts comes as the last resort and is appr 7-8 min drive from Swargadwar. Frankly, this area was new to me. And suddenly out of nowhere, this majestic resort came out. The foyer is huge and there was a team of ladies, dressed in traditional Odisha attire, waiting to greet us. And suddenly it crossed my mind that instead of writing about the experience, I actually shot a video. I was planning to enjoy my lyadh in the swimming pool, but there was something interesting waiting for us. There is this village called Raghurajpur (20 min drive from resort), which is an artisans village. Potochitra, stone sculptures and handmade typical Odisha handicraft making is the main livelihood there. Its a sloppy quaint village and mostly in all the households, primary income is selling these handicrafts and the lost Odisha dance-form called Gotipua. And this was not all and being a food blogger and seasoned glutton, I was looking for food. so Day 1 lunch was arranged at this village. Locals cooked the traditional Odisha lunch for us and served it the local way. We had to sit cross-legged on ground and the whole traditional meal was served on banana leaves. Now, this meal is one new thing for me and definitely needs a separate blogpost. Till then, heres a video on it BTW, this whole experience is priced at 650/- per head for a minimum of 4 persons trip. And after that heavy meal and early morning flight, we all simply crashed, once back in hotel. The swimming pool was almost calling us- LOL. But itinerary for Day 2 was interesting. We were supposed to go to Chilka Lake. Chilka Lake is probably the largest lagoon in India and one of the largest in Asia. A huge variety of migratory birds travel there during winter and its a sight to enjoy. There are three spots, namely Barkul- Rambha and Satpada. Satpada being the nearest from Sterling Resorts Puri, we were supposed to go there and leave by 8 in the morning. But management organized a proper Odisha dance performance for us in the evening. And, here is a glimpse of what we experienced. We spent around 1 hour at Sea- Mouth and started our journey back to the resort. Lunch was ready for us and the sundowner party was waiting for us in the evening. Id like to mention that this package can be booked from Sterling Resorts Puri at appr 5000/- for a minimum of 4 persons including the Innova transport and OTDC boat ride. It was the final day and we were tired, but at the same time refreshed with this short vacation. We were introduced to the entire hotel team during the evening party. And, with the smoky aroma from the live bar-be-que counter and sea-breeze, I will remember that evening for a long long time. most of us have been to Puri multiple times. But those visits mostly comprised of bath in the sea, evening shopping at Swargadwar and Jagannath temple. But what Sterling Resort showed us, was another side of Puri- the different experiences that one can have during the visit. And thats what is its all about probably- #HolidayDifferently .

I am an old members of sterling resorts and had not used sterling membership for a long time has service had not been upto the mark. This time i choose sterling for my Puri holidays and their is a mark improvement overall. The rooms were good , clean and modern. A little away from the main Puri beach area, but an exclusive and large property , approach road needs to be improved. The resorts was well maintained the staff was co-operative and helpful. The restaurant manager and staff when our of their way to cater to our choices , Food was very good. Overall extremely happy with Sterling Puri. Excellent value for money.
