Stayed with family during the weekend and while the initial pre/check-in experience was quite nice, everything went for a toss once we checked in. The WC had stains from the previous reservation which was extremely unhygienic, more so considering the current pandemic. The first staff member we highlighted our concern to, claimed the stains couldn't be removed, but it easily came off when I asked someone else from the housekeeping staff to clean it. Even the basic of services took almost an hour to get done despite repeated follow-ups. We ordered lunch through ird on day one. While we were informed the order would be delivered in 30min, it took about 50 for one of our two dishes to reach us. The other part of our order took another 15min, that too when we were about to cancel the order owing to a long wait. The lift panel on the first floor doesn't work, so while you can use the elevator to go up, you have to use the emergency fire exit to come down. So if you have a fair bit of luggage, make sure to check whether the lift panel works on your floor to avoid trouble during checkout. Also, make sure to carry your own tea/coffee kit if you have an early morning flight departure. You won't get any tea/coffee before their breakfast (which starts at 8) and there's no tea/coffee/milk/sugar sachets in the room. The staff also didn't offer much of a solution on that note. As for the positive, the room size is much bigger than expected. The manager with whom I spoke with prior to check-in was very accomodating as he not only offered us early check-in without any charges, he also adjusted our breakfast on day of arrival as we wouldn't be able to avail that during our date of departure. If you are not very keen on services, you can give this hotel a shot. Else, try someplace else.

I had the worst experience with Goibibo and this hotel, I could have imagined. Goibibo was of zero help, didn't even read anything, and just sent machine responses, they have just lost a customer of 10 years. I had booked two rooms just 30 minutes before reaching the hotel. When I reached I was welcomed with a cow and a few dogs waiting at the inside entry gate. No one bothered to pick up our luggage. We noticed a host of problems even before check-in like - 1. The escalator to the first floor where the reception is situated wasn't working. We took our things ourselves. 2. The entire place was smelling so bad it was difficult to breathe. 3. The lift to the upper floors where the rooms are situated was NOT working. 4. The bathroom near to the reception was stinky and as bad as a public toilet. 5. The entire hotel looked so empty, I could only see two people at the reception and nothing else. No guard, no one to ask for water or anything else. I denied check-in because of the experience I had before check-in expecting a lot more after it to save my day after 5-6 hours of travel. After waiting for an hour for Goibibo to resolve our issue and without it going into any direction, We went to Hyatt which was near-by, and booked directly from them. My ticket was closed by goibibo several times without a solution and without even trying to understand the issue. I finally got tired and told them to keep my money (Rs 4500) and I will post my experience. The Goibibo finally called me and took the VW Canyon's manager on line - who did not even talk about the problems I told him about the hotel and was just stuck with the secondary problem (the wrong no of people in the booking, which I later realized and could have sorted if wanted to check-in). While I can understand the current situation and lack of staff because of it, I was still expecting the level of service for the amount I paid. It could have been handled in a far better way and without losing a customer.

Stayed in # 315, the bed had torn dove sheet, the entire night the light kept on fluctuating and finally had to remove the key card. The food is priced so high but if you look at the quality its just not done. Went for the morning breakfast asked for banana, was told the fruits available on the buffet is available. The buffet didn't have any good options, finally had to manage with dosa and omelette. The worst part that they used dirty plastic plates and dirty spoons . Cups for tea was all chipped
A Grand building with Budget hotel approach
by Mahendra402 on
Hotel VW Canyon in Raipur is a business hotel with big building but with severe austerity measures in place which impact a guest moment one checks in. The hotel is the property of Haldiram group. its located 15 mins drive from the airport but not easily traceable. The housekeeping is below average. Rooms are spacious but poorly maintainedwith a balcony opening towards big lawns but poorly maintained. There was no soap / shampoo in the dispenser, when complained the answer was that they use liquid soap packet until the last drop to save money. In the name of toiletries, there was only one small soap .The WC in the bathroom was stained and couldn't be cleaned even after the housekeeping efforts. The TV in the room has only Free channels , no HD or paid channels are available. The tea kit didn't have a stirrer stick to mix tea or milk , one had to ask for the same. There was no stationery or even a pen and paper in the room. The temperature control panel was nonfunctional, the housekeeping also couldn't fix it or had no clue of the same.Linen was not clean. The food was unhealthy with lots of spice and masala . The breakfast had limited fruits , no apple or Banana which are basic breakfast fruits. The so called shake or buttermilk were highly diluted nothing more than a coloured water, some of the brand of liquor mentioned in the menu but were not available. The AGM called up to apologise for all the lapses and assured to meet which never happened. The staff was casual , unprofessional , shabbily dressed with no or little training in hospitality. The housekeeping supervisor was smelling of liquor or some pan masala. The drilling work carried out late in the evening despite assurance to stop the same. Overall it appeared that property is going through tough times and the only thing which matters currently is Austerity / Cost cutting even at the cost of quality of staff , basic amenities and housekeeping. Its a 2 or at best a 3 star property but certainly not a 4 or 5 star property , not value for the money.
