    Rajgir Hotels

The city of Rajgir in Bihar is located in a valley and is enclosed by lush green forests. Lord Buddha is said to have spent many years of his life in Rajgir at the Jivekarmavan Monastery and hence the place is largely associated with Buddhism. The famous places to visit in Rajgir mainly include Jain temples and Buddhist monasteries which attract a large number of devotees. People visiting Rajgir must not forget to take a plunge in the warm water ponds predominant in the area. It is said that the water in these ponds has medicinal properties and can cure many health problems.
Rajgir tour must include a visit to Saptparni Cave which is the source of the Rajgir Hot Water Springs. Vishva Shanti Stupa, one of the 80 peace pagodas in the world, is another tourist attraction in Rajgir. The route that leads to the stupa can be traversed via the ropeway which offers unmatched thrill. Tourists can also visit the Ratnagiri Hills surrounding Rajgir where numerous monasteries built by Japanese devotees are situated. During their stay at Rajgir, tourists can visit the Venu Vana which is an artificial forest. This forest is a perfect place for meditation as it offers a calm and serene environment.
There are numerous other places of historical and mythological importance in and around Rajgir. Bimbisar's Jail is of immense significance as Ajatashatru, the prince of Magadha, had imprisoned his father King Bimbisar in this jail to become the king of the land. Tourists can also visit the Jarasandha's Akhara which is in a partially dilapidated condition now. According to popular belief, the battle between Bhima, strongest of the Pandavas, and the ardent Shiva worshipper Jarasandha was fought in the Jarasandh's Akhara. Moreover, the Ajatashatru Fort built in the 6th century BC is also of historic importance and is a tourist attraction.
