The district of Rajsamand is located in the royal state of Rajasthan. This place is named after the Rajsamand Lake, which was formed by Raja Raj Singh in the 17th century. This place is crowned for being the largest producer of marble in the whole country. While on Rajsamand tour, travellers can visit the citadels, tombs, and religious centres. Apart from Rajsamand Lake, the Pichola Lake of Udaipur, which is in proximity to Rajsamand, is also quite famous among the tourists.
Rajsamand tourist places include the citadel of Kumbhalgarh, which is the second largest fort after Chittorgarh. This fort is located at an elevation of 914 m above sea level and is surrounded by 13 mountain peaks. The 36 km long wall of the fort is its prime attraction, which is second to the Great Wall of China. There are around 360 temples in the fortress, out of which, the Shivalinga of the Shiva Temple is prominent. In addition to this, travellers can visit the Chetak Tomb, which was built in the memory of Maharana Pratap’s faithful horse.
The visit to Rajsamand is incomplete without visiting the Haldi Ghati, where the 1576 battle between Maharana Pratap Singh and King Akbar’s forces was fought. The place is named after the yellow coloured soil of the region. Tourists can travel to Rajsamand by road from major cities of Rajasthan like Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Bhilwara. Some of the famed religious centres of the place are Roop Narain Temple, Shrinathdwara, Dwarikadheesh ji, Bodhisthal, Parshu Ram Mahadev and Charbhuja Temple.
