This hotel is in an amazing old palace, built by the local baron in the 16th century. The descendants of the family have set up a lovely hotel with great service and unique details. They offer an evening jeep ride through the local country side where a staff member of the hotel shows you around a few villages, temples, and agricultural areas. The food and restaurant service is quite good, with giant smiles on the waiters' faces. We thought the food, albeit a limited selection, was well presented and prepared, with the best breakfast we have had in India to date. The rooms were comfortable, although we did have some issues with plumbing (which were eventually resolved by switching rooms). Pool area was welcoming and clean. Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice stop between Udaipur and Jaipur.

This a fantastic opportunity to stay in a palace and live like they used to and if you are visiting this area this must be on you list of places to stay We were met in a large military type vehicle near the owners waterside property and driven up through the town to the hotel The rooms are spacious and well kept and the views from the rooftops are outstanding we had our dinner outside and were treated to local dancers afterwards who danced on knives and glass then we all had a dance with them !! The local town is right outside and the people are very friendly I has a haircut shave face massage and back massage for the equivalent of 2 (extra with the tip ! ) Nice swimming pool and spa complex There is a large room with books and TV if you need it Wi Fi only available near the reception are or on the roof above !

We had gone on a biking Holiday to Rajasthan and this was our 2nd last stop before our return to Delhi.... it was an exquisite experience.... the palace is very well maintained and is still entirely authentic with beautiful views and quaint alcoves and arches... The staff treats you like Royalty. I would recommend this to everyone, whether you are looking for a group holiday or a quiet getaway or a romantic weekend. The Village safari was beautiful ... their other property Fort Seeng Sagar is just too beautiful for words. Were this place a little closer to Delhi, I would make sure to spend every Holiday there. Old world charm, luxury and modern amenities topped with warm and hospitable staff, what else could one ask for. Its a place we just didnt want to leave. Deogarh, the town is also picturesque and full of the Indian colours and charm. People are warm and friendly.

We left Jodphur quite early, visiting a Bishnoi family on the way to our destination of Deogarh, our wonderful driver Vijay had a surprise planned and that was an hour's train trip through the beautiful hillside, and valley's of the area, arriving at the Station he was aghast that his surprise was to be shared by a large tour group from Germany, still they all gathered in the front carriage and we were sitting in a really old carriage with lots of wonderful characters, he gave our fellow passengers strict instructions to make sure we were safe, and got off at the correct station, what a fabulous experience, all our fellow locals were curious and intrigued by us, the beautiful countryside was stunning in the afternoon light, monkeys entertained us, on arrival our driver was at the station waiting for us, the trip to Deogarh Mahal was quick, and the tour bus with the big group also we soon found were staying at the same hotel, I have read that its a 5 star facade with a 3star interior, it does look like a great deal of money should be spent to upgrade, but to be honest I loved our amazing shabby chic room, complete with a massive terrace, it really was charming, the entertainment that night was from the nearby village, lovely dancers who did balancing acts with swords as well as walking on broken glass, they were so clever, I felt their shock when the german gentlemen and his partner placed 10rupee tip in the hat (.15c) !!!! the sunrise and the sunsets were beautiful here, staff was all very sweet, and I'm glad we came, definitely take the train journey it's wonderful.

The Deogarh Mahal is an amazing property though the rooms are just about 3 star. Staff are friendly but we had to ring reception 3 times to get an extra pillow. Rooms and bathrooms rather old fashioned but almost everyone is different. Food in the restaurant at lunchtime was absolutely excellent but evening group dinner on rooftop restaurant was only average. The town is lovely
