I stayed for one night at Deogarh Mahal, but it wasn't long enough. If I went again I would definitely stay for two nights. The place is just great to chill-out and soak up the historic atmosphere. I did the audio tour which I'd thoroughly recommend. I also enjoyed swimming in the pool and getting lost exploring all the passageways. The guy who runs the ayurvedic spa gave me an impromptu shoulder massage which was amazing. Wish I'd been there for longer to have enjoyed more spa treatments. It was a real pleasure to meet the owner of the hotel too. Lovely family. Would like to return.

Located in the inner lanes of the town, this place is best enjoyed by not stepping out for the few days you stay here. An old palace with super-spacious rooms and excellent night views, there is a strong possibility that you may get lost in the large property here!

Everybody wants to experience the idea of an Indian Palace and Deogarh Mahal, is a way to make true the fantasy of royalty. The little town is quaint and makes the arrival to Deogarh more exciting. In India one visits Palaces and Forts and to live the experience in flesh and bone is something everybody should, when visiting India. A lot of Palaces are turned into hotels here in India but this one is out of the ordinary. Not only beautiful, but also with a flavor of uniqueness. Each room has its charm and -believe me- you will find it special. You can walk for hours around the palace and get lost in the passages, rooftops, corners, terraces and little gardens. In the night dinner is served in a terrace with the glory of the palace at view. The stars dance in the sky while you taste wonderful Indian food. Our suite was so beautiful with a terrace and a sitting room. A huge refurbished old bathroom. One can imagine how they used to live in those times. We had the chance to visit several rooms and ours was special. The aromas of India usher the experience as well as the music that is lived everywhere here. Festivities are always alive in India and you hear the rumor at far, taking place in the little town. The staff is so welcoming and attentive. Specially Mukesh, he is sweet and very special. He took us to the rural train and the town school, quite an experience. The wifi connection is poor but you get so caught in the experience that is something you do not mind at all.

Situated in the old city, the Deogarh Palace hotel sits proudly atop a gradual hill. After check-in, a helpful attendant takes your suitcase and guides you to your room. This is a must as the old fort has numerous staircases, multiple courtyards and if you stumble upon it... a vintage lift. All these things add to the charm, as does the fact that the descendants of the original family still live in a small section of the palace. The rooms are spacious and clean. Coffee/tea making facilities are available, as is a small fridge. We saw a couple of rooms and noted that no two rooms were alike. Their uniqueness certainly sets this palace apart from your standard one-size fits all hotel. There were a few niggles with our room in that the shower had both hot and cold water, however the basin had hot only. The ceiling fan which is a necessity due to the heat, was rather noisy and rattled throughout the night. Follow the stairs and sneaky passages and you never know where they might lead... perhaps the pool? Another picturesque courtyard? If you climb all the way to the top youll be rewarded with sweeping views of the palace and the town beyond. Play your cards right and you might even catch a magnificent sunrise or sunset. Breakfast was served inside which is a pity as the room itself is fairly underwhelming. The food itself was fine and there was plenty of choice including eggs made to order and breads/pastries. Dinner however was served on the roof and the atmosphere was sensational. Watching the sun set whilst having a drink and great food was a highlight of our stay. As the palace is located in the old city, there was plenty of opportunity to explore the narrow streets and interesting shops. Would have loved to have stayed a bit longer!
