We started from Siliguri in the morning around 8 AM. Reached Barfung around 3 PM.Actually we took halt three to four times for our breakfast and then lunch..From Ravangla Barfung is around half an hour journey. Excellent view of Kanchenjunga from Barfung Retreat refreshed our mind the moment we reached. We stayed here 2 nights three days. Foods are delicious . Cleanliness is a big plus of this Stay. The Manager Mr Dinesh Thapa is always present for any need of any tourist. We really remember their hospitality.

I visited this place during the Christmas week. And I found out this place to be a very exquisite. This place was a superlative experience gathered by us. The manager of this resort "Dinesh" took proper care of their guest. I must say he is very humble in nature and took each and every small request with no irritation. Although, the place is very remote, around 5kms from the market place and the road is disturbed towards the resort. Also, except airtel no network works at this place. From our hotel room it is difficult to get connect with the reception, so we manage to get the mobile no.s of the staff so that we can place order and can ask for the basic necessities over phone. But I will suggest everyone to visit this place especially those who are nature lovers....an exceptional place with peace all around and with such a humble hospitality by Dinesh and his staffs. On 25th Barfung Retreat arranged bonfire for all the guests, provided us the Santa caps as well as they also arranged cartoon movies for children. It was a wonderful evening when all guests were at one place and chattered among themselves in such an unknown remote place. About Food - we enjoyed all types of food there except the chicken clear soup. At morning 6 am we had seen the fantastic view of Kanchenjunga from our room which completes our journey to this place. Forgot to mention above...during our stay they provided us with complimentary drink named Tongba with a great hot chips.

Location: Secluded location. 6kms away from main town. Property: Ill-maintained. Uneven stairs (almost 2 floors) to climb to go to restaurant. Grasses and over-growths not cut. Restaurant is rag tag and without decor. Accommodation: Avoid Suite (M1) and Super Deluxe Rooms (M2 and 10). They are just bigger rooms. Deluxe rooms are still better. Poor maintenance of the property. Floors are broken in some rooms. Balcony is without any tiles. Dirty walls. Wash Basin overflows. Food: Very limited choice available. But food was tasty. Food takes huge time from order to delivery. Room Service: NON EXISTENT. No one picks up the phone. Rooms were not cleaned. Dishes kept overnight outside the room were not cleaned even at 12 noon next day. Heater is limited and you may not get one. Bad quality heater ensures that you are cold the entire night. Manpower not trained. Overall if you are travelling with family, then AVOID this property.

We visited on 10th December and came back today. The retreat is very nice but is terribly under staffed. While the staffs are helpful but Service is not very satisfactory. The rooms didn't have room heaters and had to ask for one from the owners when they visited. It was also chargeable. Bathroom didn't have soaps, even water supply was not there. Faced a lot of problems. We had to ask for room cleaning. They didn't do otherwise. The food was tasty. But not everything is available. When we asked for momos, which is very easily available in even small shops across Sikkim, they said it wouldn't be possible to make momos. We had to ask for the dustbins to be cleaned regularly which is a very basic service that you should expect.Dustbins were broken. We had to ask for towels for the bathrooms too.We had to ask for replenishment of tea bags also and nobody bothered to check these. They had billed for lunch and dinner but didn't provide detailed one.i have stayed in a lot of resorts in Sikkim but have never faced these kind of issues. These are all small things but which makes a good impression bad.Overall not a very good and pleasant experience. I hope that they improve their services. Not recommended at all
