We initially tried to stay at the ashram for a few days but it was booked out, now I understand why. Its recommended in several guide books for Rishikesh so we decided to contact them to see about the day passes. Basically, we were told that you can buy a 3 day pass for 2100 rupees each (23) and this would include the daily yoga classes and the morning meditation class plus 3 meals a day. It's incredible value. We were total beginners at yoga but the classes were fine; they describe the movements and poses, plus you can watch the others. The day does start early though, 5:20! So stay nearby if you can't get into the ashram. The final meal is finished at 18:30 but there are plenty of spare hours to peruse the markets in Rishikesh, you're no prisoner and it's location is great. We enjoyed the whole experience though I had to go for a full body massage next door I ached that much. But that's a good thing. Is such a shame we didn't manage to stay there. I'm certainly not into the religious or philosophy aspect of it at all, but would definitely do it again. The food is great also.

I was in Anand Prakash for one month. It was a great experience! The staff was super efficient and lovely. They helped me with many things such as taxis, places, bookings etc. The asharam is very clean and the food delicious. I'm beginner practicing yoga, however I could practice twice a day. Sometimes I talked with the teachers to improve some asanas and they were very kind. Near the sharam there are some cafes, ATM, massagens, small market etc. The asharam's library is very useful, there are many books about yoga and East philosophy. I really recommend!

This is my second stay at the ashram and i have returned for a reason. The ashram and its facilities are second to none. The rooms are clean and the shower is hot if needed, although i've been taking cold shower due to the heat and humidity. Some of the rooms are fitted with AC but i dont need that kind of luxury. The food is absolutely amazing! Cooked according to the vedic lifestyle, no onions nor garlic but they manage to whip out some incredible food! If you have any food allergies or special diet eg. vegan, gluten free etc. they will cater for your needs. The yoga classes are well structured and the instructors are easy to follow even for a beginner like myself. Read a previous review about her negative experience but i can assure the future visitor that the yoga classes are authentic and traditional. Yin or any other form of yoga can be found in Rishikesh but the ashram has its own values and sticks with hatha yoga, the original source of all other yoga. If you wish to explore other classes in town during your stay the ashram will never try say not to go. Love the classes, the chanting, the breathwork and meditation part of it! The town has gone through some major changes over the last two years since i've been here. Constructions are all over the town. Naturally this ashram has to keep up with the demand so maintenance and expansion works are unavoidable. The summer being hot, rainy and humid and not as busy with bookings is the best time to do these works and if someone comes at that time its bad luck. I had the same email about the work being carried out at the time of my stay. This email also said because of the inconvenience i'll be given a discount! I think this is fair! The staff is very friendly if you make the first attempt. They will not invade your privacy otherwise. But me being easygoing i have a fantastic relationship with them. Hence feeling like coming home to my indian family! Having previously built a friendship with them it truly feels like home. All in all, can't recommend this place highly enough! A home away from home! Hari Om!

Thank you 108 times for the wonderful yoga lessons during my 6-day stay at Anand Prakash! After returning home a few days later, I incorporated the new knowledge into my yoga class and had an optimal session. Overall, my stay at the ashram was amazing! The beds were comfy. The shower water was warm. The drinking water was filtered. The food was varied and tasty. And the staff were always helpful. As I'm doing here, I recommend Anand Prakash to everyone and of course will return in the near future. Thanks again and keep inspiring the hearts of others!

Simple place with good food and friendly workers. The yoga classes were really great and the prayer ceremony routine was good. The beds were too bad and hurt my back. There was no air conditioner in our room, what makes life harder. Besides of the improvement opportunities, I reccommend the Ashram.
