We enjoyed the good food and hospitality of the hostess Mrs. Nagesh. My parents felt at home because of her open and happy nature. But nothing else is good. The rooms are very basic. We did not have electricity all night and the generator was started only after 9 am. The hosts haven't even spent on curtains of the so called "Hunter's Lodge". The only seating area is the small open porch outside which gets hot in the sun. While we are thankful for the welcoming nature of the hosts, Rs.2,500/- per person per night is far too expensive for the bare necessities on offer. Disappointed. Not worth the money charged.

We went to Sakleshpur in a group. When we set out our main intention was to enjoy scenic beauty and relax. We had a great trip and full credits to uncle and aunty who were very hospitable. Location: Any review will tell you that this is located 13kms from Sakleshpur. This place is surrounded by greenery and estate lands. You can take morning walks or rather treks for beginners like us into the estates. The valley is so beautiful that stress with think twice before stepping into such a place. Accommodation: In my view, the place is about what you expect. If you expect AC rooms with plush interiors and state of the art bathrooms, you will be in for a rude shock. The place is divided into the main bungalow and the hunters lodge. Hunters lodge is good if you are going in a group like us. The place has 4 rooms which are very basic. They have just the beds. But its a perfect place to take a trip down the memory lane. They sport an ancient water heating system which is very fascinating for children. We did not find a fan fitted in one of the rooms and on the first day it was moderately hot. However, uncle immediately arranged for a fan the next day. The bathrooms have your WC and hot water round the clock, but dont expect anything fancy. The quarters are very neat and tidy. One word of caution, while we were there we experienced power cuts and fan was also not there for periods of time. Food: Uncle and aunty were kind enough to ask beforehand what kind of food we would prefer. We mentioned we would like local delicacies and they stuck to it. We had some very amazing authentic food and ate till we couldnt walk anymore. We were a group with a mix of veg and nonveg and there was a confusion once, barring which the food was excellent. Things to do: We visited Kukke and Dharmasthala on Day 1. We had our own vehicles and uncle guided us about the timings etc. The next day we had a leisurely morning filled with Carroms, chess, cards and food. We then set out for our treks in the estate and also to a tunnel guided by uncle. We then played in the open place with the children and enjoyed nature. Verdict: The experience of connecting with nature, authentic food and amazing hospitality will never be possible in a fancy resort. However, if you prefer AC rooms, TV and gadgets, this may not be the best place for you. Feedback: The place could do with a UPS considering the powercuts.

We stayed here for 2 days (Jan 1, 2 of 2016). This homestay is one of the most decent homestay's I have come across. Food is authentic & good. Rooms are clean. You will feel at home while you are there.. This homestay is adjacent to highway and very easily accessible. Estate is good & is maintained well. This review would not be complete if I don't mention the hospitality extended by hosts Nagesh Uncle & Laxmi Aunty.

Devagiri Retreat is amazing location, well maintained homestay, excellent hospitality by the owners. It is also the taste & the exhaustive knowledge of the owners that impressed us most... Though we are vegetarians, we were taken care so well we didnt had any worries on food as well. Also there are places that will easily occupy two days of engagement. Finally we had a nice break from our metro routine... Ravi

Had a lovely stay at the Estate. Its 13 Kms from Sakleshpur. The estate and the rooms are very well maintained. Very tasty authentic Karnataka food. The hosts are very warm with their hospitality. The calm, peaceful and scenic coffee estate was very relaxing. If you want to spend a good time away from the hustle & bustle of the city life this is the place to be.
