This is a nice plantation stay amidst greenery on the Western Ghats after Sakleshpur town. This is situated on the slope of mountain and thus receive a lot of rain during monsoon season. The place is about 2 km away from the main road. The last mile connection is part concrete and part muddy thus becomes slushy during rains. The property has about 5 cottages, among which probably 3 are independent and well-spaced. A common dining room and decent parking spot. The cottage I stayed was green cottage (probably, based on color of the curtains) with one double bed, one fold-able camp cot with mattress, attached clean toilet with a large window & hot water and balcony. There were two easy chairs in the room and two chairs in balcony. Power backup is also available. The room probably needs some storage and some mechanism to keep the inside dry during rains (it becomes damp). The food is simple, testy with decent variety on both vegetarian and NV side. All the staffs from Mugilu team are very accommodating and cordial. The place has its beauty & charm during rains but on the downside, time has to be spend mostly indoor with nothing much to do. Carrying books, music, movies may help for family with young kids (TV is not there in the room). On a good weather, lots of birds can be spotted within the property. Also, nearby spots for nature walk can be other option. Overall, a nice place to spend couple of days during rains or otherwise where one can take a break, relax, rejuvenate and enjoy nature.

my wife and and me stayed at Mugilu for a couple of days in the month of May 18. It was a wonderful experience. T he place has been done up beautifully-you are very comfortable without any pretense of luxury. The cottages are very well planned overlooking the lush greenery of the coffee estate. Feel more like jungle hut with all basic facilities. The staff is excellent and the food very homely. With a common dining area, you get to meet other visitors and establish friendship, if you have the inclination. Else, just sit back in your cottage, relax and enjoy nature!!! And you cannot but admire the two dogs -Gundu and sundu??- who are always around guiding and protecting you without intruding. you have barren hillocks around , suitable for trekking. Plenty of opportunities for photography . Overall, a wonderful experience. Strongly recommended for those in the hustle and bustle of city life, to have a relaxing break thank you Sapna and Chandan Col Radhakrishnan

We visited with our family and 1 year lab(Lucky) last month. We stayed two nights. It is a perfect place who wants to get away with city and spent good time with nature. This homes stay is located in the coffee plantation. The cottage is good and neat. We have got the good view from the balcony. No TV available. You can simply relax and enjoy with good food. It is a 4.30 hrs drive from Bangalore only. There are two main attractions. 1. Open Grass land near by- It is an amazing view. Lucy and our kids enjoyed fully. 2. you can walk through their coffee plantation. You can get a feel like you will be walking through thick woods. They did not disturb the nature. At the end, we recharged and get back to Bangalore.

Our family of four(2 kids included, aged 3 & 8) visited Mugilu. We came back - deeply pleased and glad that we chose Mugilu !! Great things about Mugilu : ==================== 1. Great eco-conscious homestay where you could effortlessly unwind and enjoy nature at it's best = >*Awesome* tree cover which plays 'homestay' to wide range of lovely birds &, tiny insects. => Please do not miss the symphony of strange birds chirping/howling/hooting in a frenzy in the mornings. => Be prepared to just do nothing and yet walk away with a fulfilling experience, as mother nature knocks you over with it's glory. 2. Pleasant walk across grasslands to nearby stream 3. Nice, clean and comfortable cottage with a great view of the trees. 4. Decent food with snacks/hot-tea being served at the cottage 5. Belur + Manjarabad fort is easily doable from Mugilu making the trip even more memorable. 6. Last but not the least, fantastic hospitality from the Gurukars. Our warm host, Chandan, was kind enough to accomodate our specific requests and made our visit a memorable one. We would definitely recommend Mugilu for folks who value being closer to nature. (If you have little ones - no problem, Mugilu is perfect for kids too, as we realized) Pay a visit to this homestay called 'Mugilu' => and do your bit for the environment by supporting such eco-conscious homestays => and of course, leave deeply refreshed !

We visited Mugilu as four ppl (1 kid) and a dog. Our experience: > Location: Bang on with respect to Google maps. Takes ~5 hours from Bangalore (exiting Bangalore). > The place: 4 cottages, each one spaced from the other one...giving you enough solace. Super clean. Common dining area (where we could take our pet dog Mango). A sit down seating space adjoining the dining area...nice place to spend the evening. > Food: Excellent local food!! > Hosts: a) Service is excellent (we did not get a "no" for anything). b) Chandan Gurukar (the owner host): Am amazing person to chat with, an avid traveller and lots of stories to listen to). c) Sunthi (Ginger): ~9 year old Indie....lover girl and friendly. Gundya (thug): ~ 2 year old Indie lover boy with an attitude towards other dogs...but will sit in your lap and enjoy the company. > Their plantation is beautiful and wild...with their permission, you can let your pooch be free and enjoy the wilderness! Tips: If you love your solace, ask for the last cottage. Their beer and soft drinks are priced marginally above the market costs, so you can comfortably get it from them. Do carry your medicines with you, nothing in immediate close vicinity. There will be bugs and insects...because the place is in a plantation, none of them will harm you unless you bother them!
