When you come here you feel in home away from your home. Hotel has one small boutique garden and staffs are very good and co-operative. As per my experience if you in Shimla with your family you must stay here for at least 01 Night. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.

The place is full of colonial charme, common areas are very nicely decorated and well kept but our rooms were not particularly cleaned and the bathrooms were rather old and looked as if they had not been cleaned at all (there were hair in the in the sink and the wc was dirty) which is not acceptable considering the price they charge. The food was good and the waiter in charge of the dining room was always extremely nice and helpful but we saw a small mouse strolling around the dining room and getting in and out of the kitchen. I think the place is full of potential but is in need of a complete change of management!

We recently (May 2018) stayed in the property and went through a horrible experience. Had booked 2 deluxe room and reached the hotel around 4:00 pm. Took some time to locate the person responsible for reception table and after that were kept waiting for a long time , as the room was not ready (This is when check in time is afternoon). To our horror, we were allotted a room ( which appeared to be back room of an executive /large family room ,forgot the number) with no window , soiled linen. Room had constant noise coming from the kitchen. After severe rebuke, they did change the room on the next day but our holiday had been spoiled. Picture on the web is of the back side of the hotel, so don't get fooled by this. Backside lawn is good and large but even that lawn , difficult to enjoy as Monkeys keep on coming. Dirty bathrooms with lots of insects. Food is average. Met the owners of the property who stay in that complex , nice people. They have leased the property to someone .

We arrived at hotel after a long journey only to be told that we did not have a reservation even though the manager was shown email and voice recording proof that indeed we had a reservation. It took the input of the owner (a very charming gentleman) to come settle us in after some considerable time. When we were shown the room we found it in need of a good clean. I could actually write my name in the grime in the bathroom basin!!! And the floor rugs looked like they had never seen a clean. We had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times because of the odour coming from there. On one particular day it was raining buckets from about 11.30 am to 3pm, the rain was so heavy that there was no way you could go out in it. I asked the manager for the menu for lunch and he said no food as the chef had gone ou!!! This was really unacceptable as the hotel was full and everyone was in the same predicament In all this hotel really misses thamark and it is such a shame as the potential is there for it to be a really special place, it just needs a bit of TLC oh and a more professional management staff.

The hotel is located in Chotta Shimla about 4 km from centre of town. The hotel setting is excellent, the views from garden are wonderful. There is a traffic free road from Chotta to Mall Road in Shimla, its a very pleasant 40 minute walk. Its a credit to the owners that theyve maintained many of the original features including fixtures and fittings. Public areas are excellent with very nice traditional furniture. The bedrooms also have original fixtures and fittings however I feel they are in need of refreshing; rooms look tired particularly the bathrooms. Bedroom was too cold; a small electric heater for a 30 sq m is inadequate, the bathroom was very cold with no heat other than hot water. Dinner was acceptable, one pleasant dish and one mediocre; I accept that its difficult to stock fresh ingredients for every menu item especially when you only have 1 guest staying in hotel but meal prices are much higher than experienced elsewhere so good quality should be expected. Breakfast was good. I pre-booked hotel and found the price I paid to be much higher than best available when I arrived at hotel. Overall experience was acceptable; the garden views making up for the other failings.
