We viisted Amthi homestay in the moth of March. It was a last minute plan and we were lucky enough to get a booking at Amthi. Its a home away from home is all I can say! No fancy, luxurious furniture or decor. Simple, extremely clean and well maintained property. The owners, Mr Sridhar, Mrs Ragini and Mr Varun were very hospitable, were kind enough to explain in detail about their farm and their agricultural practices and made us feel very comfortable. The food served was delicious, vegetarian, traditional malnad cuisine. If you are looking to stay away from the city crowd in a peaceful, comfortable place with scrumptious food, Amthi is the place to be.

My family along with the families of friends stayed at Mr Sridhar's "Amthi" for a night. It was an extended home with clean and simple facilities that provides the extra comfort. The food too is simple vegetarian but the taste and authenticity of the traditional cuisine was something extraordinary. This is a place to bring your ageing parents away from the hustle and bustle of your cities and take them back to their younger days where the food was unspoilt in terms of freshness amidst nature. Mr Sridhar is a perfectionist who goes the extra mile to provide everything simple and good. Apart from lazing at the home, you can go out for trekking or a swim in the nearby streams/river. Plenty of places to go around and be with nature. Go along with Mr Sridhar to his farm and understand the sustainable agriculture methods that he follows...

If your idea of holiday is to have luxury or to have good non-veg food/alcohol, then this is not the place you are looking at and you don't have to read the review any further :-) If your idea is to be as close to nature as possible, in a traditional home surrounded by hills and plantation with exquisite and authentic local food option, then look no further. This is one of the best homestay I have visited. Simplicity of the place stands out. They have just two rooms to let and Sridhar-Raagini couple look after the guests like their close relatives/friends. Rooms do not have attached bathroom/toilet, but two toilets are located just outside the rooms . Rooms and toilets are very clean and neatly maintained. Best part of the homestay is the food which is served on plantain leaf - authentic malanad food served hot and fresh. Overall, a pleasant homestay which will not disappoint you (am sure having read the review thus far, you are not the one looking at non-veg/alcohol to pep you up in vacation, isn't it?) We will visit this place again for sure.

The first sight is good enough for you to remember the homestay for a long time. Mr Sridhar and family were so hospitable in the way they speak and treat you cant be explained. The rooms were maintained well. The food was delicious and you get to taste the authentic cuisine. Overall the stay was a memorable one and I recommend it to anyone who is planning to tour in and around agumbe, Shimogha, Sringeri. I would rate this much higher than any Coorg home-stays.

It was a wonderful experience staying at Amithi homestay at the outset of monsoon. We were enchanted by the hospitality of Mr.Sridhar's family and the amazing food they had served us. The location of the homestay is a visual treat in itself. They have a mountain stream flowing through their property which shouldn't be missed. We even went on a mini western ghat trek during our visit. It was an unforgettable experience. You can plan to visit nearby places like Kundadri and Agumbe as well, for which, sridhar will arrange vehicle. It is not part of the package. Rooms are not so great inside, but, it doesn't matter much as you will spend most of your time outside. Overall, we had a great time at Amithi homestay
