I visited this place with my family (2 Adults + 2 Kids), we stayed here for 3 nights in a room adjacent to the main house, this room had 1 queen bed and 2 separate single beds, this was just perfect for our stay. This house has preserved its heritage nature and you will feel this as soon as you enter the property, it is surrounded by arecanut plantations and you will feel being in midst of the nature. The best part about the stay here was the food, they prepare local Malnad cuisine and each and every item is cooked to perfection, we thoroughly enjoyed the food during our stay. Last but not least, Vatsalya and her family are a great host and they ensure to make your stay comfortable. I recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful getaway in Thirthahalli.

Just reached home from Kolavara after 3 days of vacation and the first thing I'm doing is writing this review. One of the best homestay options in this region with great heritage home, locale and the hosts. This is located just about 5-6km from Kuppalli ( Kuvempu's House and Kavi Shaila) and almost equidistance from Thirthahalli and Koppa. As you leave the highway and make your jour Towards Kolavara, the expectations starts building up. The homestay met our expectations in quite a bit requirements. The place is calm and serene. Swimming pool within the property is an added attraction as nothing much one can do other than visiting Kuppalli. Enjoyed the malnad food. So, no real issues with that. Have visited many homestays, but this very particular visit had one bad experience (just for one day). To be honest it is not about the place or the host. But it is unfortunately about the people who visit these kind of places. A big noisy group. I really don't understand shouting and screaming in such a calm location and when one is within the nature. We went out for a stroll in the evening and the screaming were heard even when we were pretty away from homestay. And it continued till 9:30 / 10:00. Either us or the big group were misfit for this location. These things may or may not be under hosts control but the travelers can give a thought about it.

This was again a wonderful family holiday. Couple of folks had visited this property before, so it was fairly easy to convince the others on putting their money here. Vatsalya from Kolavara owns/manages the guests bookings, stay, and so on. Together with her family, they have been apparently managing guests for a long time now. The property is nestled among few estates, and I that itself is a huge pro of this. The biggest downer was the mobile network reception. You can just about get Airtel or BSNL just near the gate, and if you move inside the property, there is absolutely no reception!! So on that note, I would like to list out the the things that were GREAT, and the things that COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER: GREAT: - Location - Cottages/rooms - Swimming pool - Hosts, and all the maintenance folks - Food COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER - Indoor games - Food spread All in all, I think Kolavara is a must visit for people who are planning to travel to Thirthalli!!

I highly recommend this homestay for anyone who is looking for a relaxed vacation. This place is just damn peaceful & the hosts are like family. Hospitality is just amazing! It is a beautiful, 135 years old property which has been been maintained excellently. The homestay is surrounded by 36 acres of Adike & Rubber farm with a private waterfalls. I recommend their morning trail walk to explore the area. The fare includes 3 meals with coffee/tea. Food (Veg & Non-veg) is just fantastic offering a 3 course tasty meal. Rooms are pretty good with basic amenities. They have an infinity pool with a farm view. Their Homemade wines are really good prepared with variety of fruits. I personally liked their Ginger & Banana wines. Kuppali Kavimane & Kavishaila are very close to the homestay & a good visit. Sunset at Kundadri hill (1hr from the homestay) is a must!!! Its mind blowing. Ideally i would recommend a 3 night stay here so that you can visit the nearby places & relax at the same time with no rush. To sum it up this place is a MUST VISIT!!!
