A place to stay right in the lap of the History!
by Satish J on
Vijaydurg is a small place but has a fairly long history. This property is owned by MTDC and being managed by M/s Margaj Holidays. It is located just next to Vijaydurg Fort. The fort provides a great view of the Sindhu Sagar (Arabian Sea) and the Waghotan Creek. Its bastions are still intact and awe-inspiring. If one visits the place in summer then one can get a good deal to buy high quality Devgad mangoes as Vijaydurg is in Devgad Taluka of Sindhudurg district. One gets to see large mango orchards everywhere around this place.
Excellent And Peacefull Place To Stay.

Had been to Vijaydurg on 15th April after a disappointing stay at Ketaki beach resort. Had driven all the way from Anjarle to Vijaydurg and was not expecting so much hospitality from the staff at Vijaydurg after reaching there. Within few minutes got a room which was so clean that my 4 year son also gave a compliment after looking at the bathroom. Mr Gawde helped us to be at home at the resort. As rightly said toiletries were provided to us as well(I have the same experience in MTDC Amboli where the same group is operating). After such long drive I felt relaxed looking at the room and the location. Wont mention much about it as already we have comments. Great location though. Will highly recommend people to come and explore. Yes this is a bit remotr place looking at the map but when you get there you will feel very peacefull. Take a walk after dinner on the roadside at the jetty in front on resort. We wont have such opportunities in the cities. Yes thr resto in the resort is closed and will be starting soon as mentioned by Mr Gawde. Alternatively yoy have Hotel Suruchi just next to the resort. Serves good food. Place the order 1hr in advance so that they can prepare. Have some local fish here leaving the usual Surmai and Pomfret thalis. Visit the fort and take a guide during your first visit. Please dont litter the place in the fort as the locals are taking care of the fort by cleaning it everyday. Worth to see the entire fort as some of the remains are really in good condition. Dolphin rides available in the morning and evening at the Jetty. Beach is right behind the resort. Water is clean and beach is safe. Go and soak in the water. Enjoy your stay here. Note that you ll not be having cellular connectivity for some of the operators. I guess idea bsnl, and Tata have the networks here.

Really in that small place we got a beautiful hotel with big rooms and food was very tasty.Vijaydurg fort was behind the resort and such a beautiful construction from where we can have sunrise..Stayed for 3 days enjoyed a lot..
Much better than expected - being an MTDC resort

The room was wonderful, in fact it was surprisingly much better than expected. Location is superb - rooms are fort-view. However, no restaurant in the resort. So, breakfast is a problem. There is just 1 hotel nearby.
Great place to stay with a great view of the Vijaydurg Fort

This resort is right next to the fort and the beach. It is currently run by Innovators group and may change hands early next year. The staff was very courteous. The only disadvantage was that the in-house restaurant had closed just a week before our visit. So we had to eat at a nearby restaurant Suruchi, which offers great food, although it looks small. There are not many places to visit except the Vijaydurg fort and the Rameshwar temple. The ferry provides a good view of the fort from the sea. Guides are available to explain the historic significance of the fort and it is very informative. It is quiet place and the beach is accessible from the resort and outside as well. Overall, a great place for a quiet holiday.
Rooms having windows facing the fort are the best rooms....

Ask for the room closest to the reception. The dinning area is not well ventilated snd get get hot and uncomfortable.
