What's Good: I am a frequent traveller and had travelled a lot in India and abroad. The hotel cannot be rated even 3 star. Nothing good except pure veg dhaba in front of hotel and breakfast in the hotel. Lock of the door was jammed my wife and hotel staff cannot open the room i used to open the room forcefully each time. I had asked for room change they replied this is best room of the hotel. Room service and food is poor. They serves tea and milk without cups and we have to fight for cups. Two Bulbs of the rooms are changed on our request. They take booking of taxi for Gulmarg and had informed at 9 PM that tomorrow morning cab will not be provided I had arranged myself. They do not guides about anything. The hotel is money minded even if you need print of your ticket they need Rs. 100. For extra mattresses they asked Rs. 1200 per night. In my opinion the room do not worth more than Rs. 2000 per night but they are charging Rs. 5000 per night. I am surprised how the hotel is such overrated at Tripadvisor.

I booked a room for my honeymoon stay but when I went to hotel front office team give me very dirty room. I surprised when I saw bed linen was dirty and hair on bed. When I complain they saw me many rooms but all rooms have same issue. Even I already inform before arrival to hotel that I am also a hotelier.and I required a good room but I did not get anything .when I was checking out one lady ask me for feedback .and she took my mobile and filled her self my feedback. How's she knows about my stay??.

My husband and myself recently visited Shringaar for a brief holiday and booked our stay at the Batra Hotel which is not far from the Dal Lake. Even though the communication services were down we still thought we can enjoy the nature in the laps of the majestic Himalayas far from the busy hussle bussle of life for a while. We needed a peaceful stay but fate had otherwise in store for us. Traveling from Mumbai one does feel the temperature difference instantly. Although it's warm during the day but since we had an early morning flight, we could feel the change. The hotel guys gave us an executive room on the 3rd floor which looked fair enough and spacious on first glance. But my first thoughts were on the heating facility available. There the Management informed that since number of customers were few heating element was off and they could oblige us by providing a simple heater!! I had to inform the Management this was not done for the money I was paying and we needed comfort. I was firm on this. Finally they shifted us to one of their so called best rooms on the 5th floor where the heating element of the AC was working. But the complimentary basket was empty, doorbell not working, night light out of order. Best was the washroom where you get hot water only in the morning and if you want to have a bath in the evening then God help because there's no hot water. To make it worse, there was a bad water leakage just above the head when in front of the basin!! So in that cold since washroom is not temperature controlled, as you brush or wash at the basin, you have cold droplets of water falling on your back constantly which is not only uncomfortable but highly irritating. The Management were called and informed about all this but nothing changed during our 3 day visit. Even difficult to believe but the Wall clock in the room was not working which got rectified after a day's stay! The buffet breakfast is just about bearable but highly unmanaged. You have to call and ask for basics like water. Most of the time buffet is laid just like that without any staff. So if you are in a hurry you had it! They are very slow in their service also. If you eat out that's better but if you want to order your lunch or dinner here then God save you!! You will be actually wasting your money because the food is pathetic. The chapattis are hard and brittle and the curry is watery with absolutely no taste. Even the rice used for pullao is very inferior quality. Moreover Most of the food items on the menu card are not available. Only Indian Menu available as per chef and there too you need to compromise.... If you ask for X you can only get Y, you ask for A then only B is available!! And for all this you pay a good amount of money. To top it all, after a full day outing or when you want to go down for breakfast and remain energetic for your full day ahead you come to know that the lift services have been stalled and is under repair which would take time. You would feel like hitting your head against the wall because you have to negotiate the steps through 5 floors either way!! For all these challenges at the hotel, the Management is absolutely cool and apathetic to the customer's discomfort. Since the hotel belongs to the Batra group of Delhi it's quite a shame as it's bringing down the name and reputation of the group. I think they should look into this matter and revamp the hotel for a better experience of travellers. All the Best!!

I have stayed here for one night. I would like to thank the staff of hotel for making our stay comfortable. Rooms are spacious with all amenities. Dal lake is at walking distance from this hotel. USP of this hotel is restaurant staff headed by Ishfaq. There were ample varieties of food to choose from.

Had booked executive rooms in this hotel going by the reviews..bt ws disappointed.. the executive rooms clearly states the amenities thts why paid the high prices.. no bathtub, no ac in hot summers, no bathroom slippers, no dental kit, even no hair dryer... the list is endless... even after repeated complains no one came to solve these issues. They said they dont have ac or bathtub in any of their rooms. Then they are clearly fooling people..had to bear with this as had already paid... please guys dont waste money
