Cracked crockery, broken bathroom fittings, very costly kitchen without a menu, bad location (near old city where stone pelting and curfews happen), TV with non performing remotes and no access to most channels, poor management who suddenly at midnight start a noisy and polluting generator and plug off from outside your geyser when u need it most, above all management ready to quarrel and fight with u over every complaint you make.

It is not as good a hotel as they claim to be. We (my wife and I) had to stay here for a week as arrangements were made for us here by the University of Kashmir. Some of the drawbacks of this place: 1. No elevator available (need to climb multiple stairs). 2. No one available at the reception to answer calls. 3. A grumpy old do-it-all employee. 4. A dirty room which was probably not cleaned since the hotel was built. 5. An old creaky bed with a sponge mattress which will definitely ail your back. 6. No closet in the room. We had to live through our big bag for the whole week. 7. A dressing table with a smudged mirror. The height of the table is such that one has to sit on the floor to get dressed :) 8. Only one working electrical outlet in the room. We had to charge our laptop and mobiles alternately. (There were 2-3 other outlets which were not working). Also, the location of the outlets was terrible. They were not by the bedside, but on the opposite side, so that one had to walk all the way to the other side of the room to plug in something. 9. Even though we were there for one week, our room was never cleaned, and the bed was never made. 10. The bathroom stank and the shower was not working. Had to use a bucket for showering. 11. The bathroom slope was not sloped properly, in that the water got collected in the center of the bathroom instead of seeping towards the drainage. 12. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, but instead had an opening which opened directly into the hallway outside. Thus, people standing outside in the hallway could possibly hear what you were doing in the bathroom. Even more cause worthy of concern was that one could possibly use a ladder standing in the hallway and peep inside! Not that it happened.

This is the worst hotel I have ever been in my life. The staffs were very rude and won't even stand and talk to you, they just answer partly and just walk away like politicians. We were lucky to not have booked food from this place, we went out and had in the restaurants nearby. The worst part is the closet never flushed properly in our room, when complained no one fixed it, the whole room started to stink. The list like these goes on and on. On the last day of our trip, all staffs come to you and ask for tips money shamelessly. Aaaarghhhh! The only people come here will stay for one night only. It was very unfortunate of us to stay here for 3 nights. This is the WORST hotel.

we stayed at gulshan valley for 2 night...but stay was a terrible experience..the hotel is on the main road which is always running...so traffic will disturb u..the situaition of the hotel is terribly 10km away from the dal lake, lal chawk or any market..though it is near hazratbal dargah n nigeen lake...they r not the places you r in srinagar for..the rooms are clean, have a lcd tv..but the bedding is old and not at all clean...we were a bit scared to sleep on it..the washrooms are ok n clean...the food what to say is awfull and on occasion non edible.... so if u really wana test ur patience...n not enjoy the trip, then only go for this hotel... say no even if offered for FREE...
