We stayed at Walisons, Srinagar twice during our trip. On the first two days after arriving at Srinagar and before going to Pahalgam and again before going to Gulmarg after getting back from Pahalgam. In both cases we had a real nice and comfortable stay at Walisons with their staff and managers ready to help us out with anything we may need. Though Walison is not located on the Boulevard Road overlooking the Dal Lake but it is just about 2 minutes walk from the Lake and is very strategically located with easy access to Dal Lake, a lot of restaurants of the likes of Punjabi Rasoi and upscale ones like "Stream" and "Shamyana", however it's own restaurant also serves good and delicious food with both room service or restaurant facility available. Both the rooms given to us were large, with very comfortable beds, sofas and clean linen and bathrooms. Particularly the family room we took for our second stay, had two double beds and two sofas of which one was large enough to accommodate an adult for a good night rest. Though we were just 3, but 5 adults can easily accommodate in their family room. In fact, the room had two attached bathrooms. Apart from being a very good mid-range hotel to stay at Srinagar, I must mention about the out-of-the way help which was given by the manager of the hotel, Mr. Sajad. While we were at Srinagar, there were some incidents in Ananthnag district which made our journey to Pahalgam unsure. However, as we were keen to visit Pahalgam (our plan was of a 3 day trip) and was reluctant to cancel our trip, Mr. Sajad helped us in arranging a vehicle for us to take us to Pahalagam very early in the morning. As local car drivers refused to take us to Pahalgam (due to the unrest), he managed to get a car all the way from Pahalgam to pick us up. Here I must also mention about the driver - Suhail Khanday was one of the best drivers I've been driven during our various travels through India and would recommend any one visiting Srinagar/Phalagam and staying at Walisons, to ask for Suhail. Suhail is a young Kashmiri guy in his early twenties from Phalagam, with a warm smile on his face and a soft voice. A huge fan of Bollywood film star Salman Khan, Suhail is ever conscious about the comfort of the passengers. Overall anyone looking for a mid-range hotel in Srinagar, I would recommend them Walison. It is a very good value for money hotel. In fact, next time I would myself like to stay at Walisons, Pahalgam, the sister hotel for Walisons, Srinagar, if I visit Kashmir in future.

This was our first point of contact with Kashmir and it was heartwarming. It had been raining all the way from the airport and Srinagar was waterlogged at a lot of places where the flyovers are being constructed. As we checked in to this cosy hotel tucked in neatly a little away from the Dal Lake into the family room which was large and comfortable and warm as Srinagar gets really cold if it rains, even in April. The manager Mr.Sajad who has been most cooperative and looked after all our needs. The staff is ever ready to help. The hotel is well maintained with very courteous staff. The rooms are large and bathrooms clean. The added advantage is that the hotel helps in booking cars for Pehelgaum and other places at a very reasonable rate with reliable drivers. For us it was like finding a home at a place which people in the mainland are much misinformed about. The bathrooms need a special mention, they are clean and chick. It is most convenient to go to the Mughal gardens and the Shankaracharya temple atop a nearby hillock. Highly recommended.

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. It is walkable to Dal lake and nearby eateries and shopping. Internet speed was good too. Room and bathroom was clean. Morning breakfast was excellent. Pakora was the best. Only issue I had was with hot water.
