We got this cottage's reference through a friend and were not really sure what to expect. However it turned out to be pretty good. The rooms are pretty clean, home like and in good condition. Staff was also very helpful. They cooked nice meals and helped find taxis/cabs/auto for our day trips. Its also very close to market/ATM. There was no board indicating the cottage name but it was temporarily and because of some municipal order. There was pile of garbage near the gate which gave wrong initial impression but the main lawn was very well maintained. The lawn next to our cottage could have been a bit better maintained. But not bad and in fact very cozy for morning/evening snacks (had jhoola). The property was a bit away from Dal Lake area though. Overall, it was nice homely stay for the price.

There are several ways to enjoy Srinagar, but there is one way to live it. This family run home-stay is the best way to experience the Srinagar-life from the comforts of a traditional postcard-picture like home. Located in the picturesque Baghat Barzalla area, Yena's cottage is a convenient location from everything else that you may want to see in Srinagar. You can wake up to the sights of a blossoming garden or, maybe, a carpet of snow outside (depending on the season you choose to travel in) and the aroma of the delicious Kashmiri bread and aromatic tea! The owners are very warm people, who do everything to make you feel at home. I spent a beautiful few days of summer here that I look back upon every now and then. One tip: on your way back from Srinagar, don't forget to buy yourself a replica of a traditional wooden house from the market. It's going to remind you of Yena's cottage!

A charming cottage managed by equally charming ladies - we had the run of the place as we had three rooms. Quite centrally located the bed and breakfast is easy to locate as it is right next to a Gurudwara with a historic past. The rooms on the 1st floor are spacious and full of light. Comfortable, clean and welcoming are the words with which I describe it. The lush lawns and flower with fruit laden trees enhance the experience. The staff is also helpful. I would recommend it anytime. This review is a bit late in being posted - I know for a fact that Yena's Cottage escaped the devastation suffered by Srinagar - so still doable.
