Reason For Rating : Well the room booked was premium, bigger room n neat washroom, the only thing which was missing was A/c

What's Good: Restaurant
What needs to improve : Room too small, activity area not clean, bed and blanket provided not comfortable,
Reason For Rating : The room alloted and the amount paid is not upto mark. We can get a better hotel at this rate.

What's Good: The most important plus point is the location which is next to the boat landing.
What needs to improve : 1. An organic foul smell was there in the corridor just outside the room (No. 130). The electric circuit breaker went off twice at night, landing us in darkness.
Reason For Rating : 1. Housekeeping needs improvement. 2. Price in yatra was nearly 1000/- higher than other competitors.

Stayed here for 1 night, in a beautiful large room with inlaid wooden doors, solid walls with exposed stone, the room over looked the lake. Lots of monleys, cute but can get a bit over powering if your carrying a plastic bag, beware! Because the hotel is in the Nature Reserve we had a guaranteed place on the boat trip down the lake the following morning.Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good and well priced, would definitely recommend this hotel.

Within the beautiful Periyar Tiger sanctuary, this hotel, built in the 1950s has maintained and restored the lovely large rooms, parquetry, inlaid wood doors, solid walls with exposed stone. New bathrooms and light fittings. We were surprised when monkeys jumped in the car on arrival. It was lovely to watch them swinging through the trees while we ate breakfast; the dining room looks out on the forest and lake. Our room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good large swimming pool which we used several times. The food was good and well priced. We took a boat trip and then an afternoon hike and the a nighttime walk. We saw elephants, bison, deer, wild pigs, giant hornbills, beautiful giant trees - we had good guides all organised by the forest department and well priced compared with other places We loved this hotel and would recommend it to other travellers.

Hotel is located in a tiger reserve, you will not see any tigers so do not go here if that is what you expect to see! You will see plenty of other animals and birds and suggest you take two boat rides early morning and late afternoon. You will need to purchase a daily ticket for the Reserve, even though you are stopping in a hotel located in the Reserve. You cannot go out of the hotel after 5.30.PM, consequently very little to do in the evenings, and you cannot see the lake from the hotel due to forestry. You can only walk along the main service road during the day, you are not allowed to go off this road without a guide. There are plenty of walks to do, but you have to pay for the guide. The hotel lacks ambience, no pictures on the wall, a bit dull, drab, etc. but staff are excellent, rooms average, but clean, food was very good, do not expect big English cooked breakfasts! We were told that the Lake Palace Hotel is far superior and you can see the animals in the evening come down to the lake, you may wish to consider this hotel as an alternative, but it is on an island so you need to catch the ferry during the day to go anywhere.

There are only 3 properties inside the periyar and all are ktdc properties. You cannot get a true feel of the wildlife unless you stay in ktdc. They arrange for the boat ride and night treks without any hassle. We booked 2 rooms here both premium, one facing jungle and one near reception facing the pool. Both were awesome. Early at 5AM we saw star filled sky which is a very rare sight in cities. Also a few sambhars,a wild boar and a porcupine visited the property, which was a feast for the eyes. The staff also showed us videos of Elephant and cobra visiting the property. The boat ride in the Periyar was really great. We got upper deck front seats which provided an amazing view. We could see a few birds, deers, Bison from far. The staff were very nice. Don't think twice before visiting this property.
