Stayed there as part of a tour. Rooms clean with hot water, AC and fan and a nice varanda area to sit. Breakfast is good too. Well located for the National Park, which is worth a visit. Also see the martial art show which is close by.

Clean large room with terrace and outside chairs. Good beds, nice hot shower. Quaint wood carved cupboards. Beautiful classic front veranda in carved wood. I did the morning walk and had to leave my room at 6.45 but as asked the owner himself brought me a freshly brewed local coffee to wake me up :-) Afterwards my breakfast was kept and check out graciously extended...

I stayed here with an intrepid tour for 2 nights. It's in a good location for the Periyar Tiger Reserve and the town. It's maybe a 5 minute walk to the town and a 10 minute walk to where you do the Green Walk in the park. The room was big and clean, with clean sheets and towels. The mattress was comfy- not too hard. There was a tv in the room but I couldn't make it work. The bathroom was clean and I had no difficulty getting hot water at any time. I also had wi-fi access in my room which was strong enough to download programmes, but not strong enough to Skype. There is not a big staff presence here, so I had to rely on my trip leader if there was anything wrong with the room/hotel. They do clean the communal areas daily but not the rooms.

The rooms were nice and clean and had nice balconies. I was invited out to walk into the park a with the owners friends one morning I but I had to pay 450 rupees entry for the pleasure. They don't I pay anything of course. Our breakfast was ok but could have been better. Omlette, finger bananas (with ants), sweet toast, butter, jam, juice and tea or coffee everyday. It did not start well as we Had to unload our own bags when we arrived. WiFi was very poor the hot water was virtually none existent. We had power cuts everyday which the building next door didn't seem to have. This made an already slow WiFi virtually unusable especially for online booking or banking. A room at the back is quieter than ones facing the road. I tried to negotiate a lower price on leaving but I was told I should have let him know the problems at the time. I had mentioned the WiFi to his son and I thought the power cuts were the power companies fault. Turns out most hotels have automatic generators which they didn't turn on during the day. In my opinion this hotel is not value for money. A bed and breakfast rather than a home stay. The owner is more interested in spending profits on cars motorcycles and his new hotel rather than offering better service to his existing customers. I get the impression it was better years ago when the owner was more keen to please. Really the modern Indian story. I hope they read my review and take my critism seriously as this could be a very nice bed and breakfast again.
