Could not believe how quickly my stay went from bad to worse so quickly. First off, the hotel looks nothing like the bright, sunny photo posted on the internet. Just the opposite, it's old and run down. A deceptive, dishonest business practice used to lure in customers. When I arrived I was shown a room upstairs that at first glance looked basic but fine. After I paid the manager on duty, I went for a walk and when I returned "experienced" the problems I hadn't seen the first time around. Almost nothing worked in the room: the television, the Wi-Fi, even the toilet (which I had to pour water into to flush). I borrowed bug spray from the front desk because the room was crawling with insects (ants everywhere). The manager said she would move to a better room the next day so I hung in there, however, the next day a new manager was on duty that made things even worse. He said I could change rooms at noon and to bring him my hotel receipt. When I did, he inexplicably said my hotel receipt was not a receipt? I walked down the street to the tourist police office, explained my situation and an officer called the hotel and told them to refund my money. When I returned to the hotel to check out, the same man actually said, So, you want to change rooms? It was as if he could not recall our long, previous discussion. I checked out and walked about 50 meters up the road and checked into one of the better guest houses I have ever stayed at (could not see it the previous evening because it sits back from the road).

Spent excellent 5 days there. The owner is very friendly and completely relaxed (i.e. when I arrived at 10pm he prepared an extra dinner for me and had time to talk and drink). Prices are absolutely fair and the colors... awesome :-) The next day a guy offered various tours in the national park. I expected a nasty negotiation, but nothing at all happend. He just told me about the possibilities and left. No pressure, no scam. When I decided for a tour 2 days later, they even brought the ticket to the hotel (And the park is wonderful. If you like nature, you'll love it). I'll come back for sure one day!

We have been travelling in Kerala for two weeks and staying in six different places, and this one is without a doubt the worst hotel we have stayed in. In short, it gives no value for the price, very noisy, dirty and has a bad manager. When we arrived the manager tried to be kind and treat us nicely. He made us wait in the entrance while he clearly had a dispute with other guest in hindi. I didn't understand, but it seemed that he was kicking out these other guests of the room where we were supposed to stay. The first thing we noticed is that there was not enough water coming out of the shower, and of course no warm water. The only good thing is that the manager had good contacts with the people working with tourist attractions, so we were able to get tickets to do a bamboo rafting tour in periyar and he put us in contact with the a driver who took us to a spice tour and to the tea plantation. The first night in the hotel was horrible. The manager had admitted a family of around 40 people, who started a party on the roof at night. The room where we stayed was not at all soundproofed and we could hear all the steps in the stairs, the children screaming, the music, etc. I had to go up at 12:30 am and tell them to please stop the noise, since the manager didn't do anything. Around 5am we were woken by the call to prayer of a musk nearby. The location is not good either. You are better off staying in Thekkadi.

In the entrance there was one bird cage, lots of lovebirds are there. They can't even sleep because of led strobe light inside the cage, so birds were chirping whole night. ( it's a cruelty ) Room - Very specious but odd color combinations. Each floor has common balcony with separate sofas. Staff - Helpful but all were drunk. Room service - no phone and drinking water facilities.

The owner of this is very helpful. The rooms are well maintained and colorful. There are some birds on the ground floor and it makes it feel like you're in the middle of a forest. Really worth the money!
