  • Reminds of England architecture

    by ashima_sarkhel on June 22, 2017

One of finest place in thekkady. Architecture will remind you of English era. Same with breakfast. Staff is good. Rooms spaces, well illuminated and maintained.we enjoyed the hotel much more than thekkady.

  • Good hotel with western ambience

    by Priyanjit M on June 2, 2017

Dear friends, I've recently visited Wildernest hotel in Thekkady in the month of June 2017. I've given below my unbiased reviews and opinions.. Pros: 1. Service is excellent and nice behaviour by all staff and front desk. Staff is really professional and easily approachable and helpful as well. 2. Nice location 3. Good quality food 4. Nice ambience 5. Spacious rooms Cons: 1. Only breakfast is available and if you stay in this hotel for 5 days, unfortunately you'll have to eat the same items everyday - banana, plane croissant, litchie juice, bread with jam/ peanut butter / normal butter, eggs (scrambled/ masala omlette), tea/coffee. So, more varieties are expected. Please have some Indian dishes also. Our Indian cuisine and culture is well recognised all over the world and we should respect that..!! Following all the time only Western culture/dishes/ speaking accent doesnt seem to me a good idea. Hotel management just tried their best to give you an European ambience. 2. If you're fond of western culture too much, you'll probably like the rooms. Rooms are not having sufficient light and of western style. You'll get the same horror hollywood movies feeling and ambience at night. ;-) Honestly I didn't like the rooms that much but may be that won't be the case with others.. Please check the pics for more details. 3. No view at all from the room/ balconies as well. 4. I didn't notice any security guard at the main entrance or anywhere in the hotel. 5. Intercom was not working during my visit. They charged me INR 500 for early check in. Check in time is usually at 12 pm but since I travelled by bus from Bangalore I reached hotel by 8 am. I checked in around 08:45 am i.e. 3 hrs early and that's why I had to pay extra which they disclosed during billing next day. Rest everything was fine. So it is upto you. Have a nice stay and enjoy your vacation..!! Tips: Dont miss Satram village sightseeing and you'll get many awesome scenic views even before the view point though the road is in very bad condition. During monsoon, many jungle services are closed and most of the time, it is raining here.. Regards, Priyanjit

  • Basic but good B&B

by SallyinDubai on May 25, 2017

Stayed here for two nights during a tour of southern India. Rooms are spacious and clean and basic. Staff pleasant and helpful. Some local shops near by - make sure you factor in enough time to bargain hard it you want something - worth it for a good discount. Restricted access - all the 'ground' level rooms are up or down some steps, and the upper rooms are access via spiral staircases which may not suit everyone. As it's just B&B, we used the next door Spice Village hotel which has a lovely old colonial bar with pool table and other games (Scrabble!), and good selection of drinks, and both their restaurants for lunch and dinner.

  • Awesome stay - Highly recommended!!

by CherAnt on May 23, 2017

I had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for our stay from 19th-21st May. This place is just 7mins by rick (@Rs30) from the kumily bus stand. The location is very convenient & centrally located close to the main bazar. The ambience is just perfect - Its a quaint lil place maybe just 8-10rooms. The rooms are so tidy & cozy; i absolutely loved every bit of it. They do up the room daily & there's this peculiar fragrance of lemon grass oil with which they clean the floors. I liked the fact they kept an umbrella handy near the entrance of our door (since there were occassional showers). Breakfast was very basic though - a glass of juice, fruits, cornflakes with milk, toasted slice bread, peanut butter, jam, butter, plain croissant, egg (however you prefer - omlette, scrambled, etc.) & tea/coffee. Wifi was available & there was 24hrs hot water. The staff was very warm & welcoming. The moment we checked in they gave a brief of everything. They also advised us on all the possible things we could do in Thekkady & showed us pamphlets for the same (however i felt these were on a slightly higher side; you can bargain for a good deal directly with any of the jeep drivers). They also have this book wherein all travellers who have stayed over have written their reviews. I felt it's a nice thought. We had an awesome stay at Wildernest & definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Thekkady.

  • Peaceful Stay @ Thekkady

by RonTeeJay on April 9, 2017

Though the property might not be huge yet its an ideal option to stay if you're not looking for a resort. This B&B place does come with some of the trappings of a good quality resort viz. gracious staff, very spacious rooms, very clean and quiet property, rooms and bathroom are very clean, well maintained. The staff are very courteous, well groomed and very well trained to help any of the guest with queries/guidance about PTR and surrounding areas. The rooms are large and extra large. Took the one on the ground floor, it was quiet and very cool even though the weather outside was hot. I suppose when the weather is wonderful the best option would be to rent the rooms with a terrace sitout. The breakfast option provided was fine enough though nothing extravagant. Standard staple stuff in a continental breakfast. But the proximity of this place to almost all of the best eating joints in Thekkady makes this a really great option to stay put. The bed and pillow quality were good. The advice provided by the staff did help us much. Especially their recommendations for where to dine and how to plan your activities for the stay. This place could have been much better had the management provided options for guest to cook or store packed foods, like a microwave or fridge to store stuff. But otherwise no points to complain about.

  • If you don't want to climb a lot of stairs, ask for a groom on the ground level.
