    What's Good: Good one

What needs to improve : No Restaurant

Reason For Rating : Good ambience...

What's Good: It's surrounded by lush greenery. Best view. Peaceful.

What needs to improve : Lighting in the rooms can be a little more bright. Not enough of you want to do some work. But then why the hell will anyone want to work in such calm atmosphere.

Reason For Rating : The Wilder nest is the best place to stay in Thekkady. Loved it's serene landscape, very nice staff, great continental breakfast,,,, all in all a very very good place to stay. I stayed there for only one night which I felt was injustice to the beautiful hotel. Yatra have a very good deal on the price. Price I paid was peanuts as compared to the hotel and facilities.

  • Really good B & B, friendly and efficient!

    by puschka01 on

We loved our 3 nights stay at Wildernest, everything a b and b should be, and you can get tea/ coffee cake and drinks almost anytime. The staff are friendly, helpful, on reception ( and it's adjacent kitchen) all the time, and will give advice / help on most things. Just 5 mins in one direction from the park experience bookings office, and 5 minutes other direction to entrance, Wildernest has perfect location. Rooms are quiet, very clean, simply furnished and spacious. We had own balcony, but used communal one above reception ( with tables and chairs), but watch out for monkeys! Breakfast good, juice, drinks, omelette and fruit. Their plum fruit cake available all day, unless it runs out, if you want midday/ afternoon treat. Few minutes walk to the many shops and restaurants of kumily. Excellent and really good value, only about 10 rooms, so book early.

  • Great bed & breakfast

What a great 3 night stay we had in a lovely double height room with its own balcony. Breakfast and available snacks are superb, there is no restaurant here but plenty within 5-10 mins walk. Wildernest overlooks the periyar park but is convenient for town too. We can't fault it. The staff are friendly and efficient - working under Rollin, an excellent manager. The rooms are clean, stylishly though simply furnished (comfortable), and quiet. Garden and communal balcony are pretty and the breakfast area shady and cool. What more could you want? Only 10 rooms but it's a real gem.

  • great place to stay

The Wildernest has maintained its high standards since the last time we stayed there. All of our party were extremely pleased with the standard of accommodation, the breakfasts and most of all the care and consideration of all of the staff. As it happens, that was the thing we needed the most. They, all of them, went way beyond our expectations in looking after all of our group and we were extremely grateful to them for that. We will, when we can, come back to stay again and to say once more 'thank you'.

  • Lovely staff, beautiful rooms in quaint Thekkady

    by Amisha C on

Wildernest is really true to its name. While the location walking distance to the market street of Thekkady-Kumily, it is right across the road from Periyar National park. You can see the bamboo thickets in the national park from your room. Our room was on a higher level, and was quite private because it was the only room on that level, accessible by separate stairs. There was a lot of open space outside the room, and our room also had a private balcony on the 2nd floor. The staff was extremely friendly, and helped us plan our day in Thekkady so that we didn't waste a single minute. The ambience of the place overall is also very warm and welcoming and will be especially appealing to people who enjoy wildlife and natural beauty. It is the perfect little place with no frills, which totally delivers on what it promises. On the downside - there is no restaurant on-site, but there are quite a few hotels nearby which serve good food.

  • Nice, clean, warm shower and monkeys

    by miamaaritR on

Wilderness was great! Spacious room with wide windows, easy to watch monkeys play right outside. Breakfast was included, it was croissanys, omelet, fruits, toast and juice. Oh, and great coffee for once. Staff was helpful with everything, location was good. Easy to go around from here, park entrance is at walking distance. Here was our first shower in India after 2 weeks. Travelled with kids 4 and 11yrs, area feels safe and easy going.

  • There are limited rooms in the property, so I expect all of them to be equally beautiful.

  • We liked the upper rooms as they seem lighter and have better outlook.

    by swallows2016 on December 21, 2019

  • all rooms excellent, we had an upper storey room and were woken by the monkeys peering through the balcony windows
