We booked this accommodation, back in November 2010 for 6 nights starting January 9th. after sending a number of confirmation emails to gary Fear? we were really looking forward to staying here. we turned up to find that the owner had rented the whole house out to another visitor for 3 months and tried to move us to some other beach front hotel accommodation in Kovalam, this was not what we wanted as we had stayed in homestays throughout out trip in india. please again do not book this accommodation. The new owner is still using the previous english owners email address. please again do not book this accommodation.

We've stayed in this little b&b run by an English couple for 4 nights. It's a modern builed european house with 3 rooms for rent. The breakfast is - ofcourse - full english. Eggs, tomatoes, beans, sausage, toast, o.j., coffee you can take as much as you want and ceareal. After that breakfast you have energy for the whole day. It's a 5 minute walk to the popular beach of Kovalam. If you want to do something else then go to the beach, Jane and Gary can give you ideas of what to do. Go get a massage, go to the elephants, relax on the beach and enjoy your stay in the cottage. We did.

I was greeted at the airport by Gary and Jane, even though it was the earlier hours of the morning, taken back to the beautiful accomodation, all you could dream of and more, had a few cups of tea and good chat with the owners before getting some sleep to get over the flight from the UK. Gary and Jane are the most helpful people you could hope for, there to give you lots of information or advice but also if you want a bit of quiet time, they are very respectful hosts. Went out for a meal to a local restraunt on the beach 'The Malibar' great food, great staff, very friendly atmosphere and also a pool table and tennis table with lots of offers for a game. When at the restaurant, I mentioned I would like to have a massage, 2 minutes later, Gary had booked it for me, amazing. Also breakfast was served when I woke up, as a vegetarian, I was given an option of a cooked breakfast or a more continental style breakfast, some mornings just had eggs on toast, Jane is an excellent cook who would make me whatever I wanted when I woke. If you are looking for a taste of real life in Kerala, want to be away from the crowds and want to know where to explore and how to get there, then this is the place for you. Gary and Jane set up day trips to a tea plantation, elephant sanctury, Nassa Dam, backwater river trip to mention a few. My room was immaculate, air con, en suite, plenty of storage, mini bar and a balcony with a view of palm trees. The B&B is only a ten minute walk from Lighthouse beach and a strip of wonderful restaurants. All I can say is this is the only place you should think of staying in Kerela, Jane and Gary are the best hosts you could ask for. Would highly recommend you stay at Jangar Cottage, definately will be going again

I decided to travel to Kovalam and trusted the reviews on this site when I made a decision where to stay. It was absolutely right thing to do! I also had a luxury to be picked up at the airport by Jane and Gary in the middle of the night and taken to the location. The room was nice, clean and spacious. What I liked the most is an attached balcony that I used all the time. The food was great and truly Jane and Gary are the most friendly and knowledgeable hosts. My holiday couldn't be better thanks to them! I don't understand why Jangar Cottage is ranked #2 when it couldn't get better than this! I will be back. Branka

What a difference staying with people who really know the area and its people makes! Anywhere we wanted to visit, Gary and Jane arranged it for us. We had so many questions about the area and people and learned so much during our stay thanks to them. They kept a fridge stocked up with drinks and snacks for us, which was much appreciated and our room was extremely clean and spacious. The breakfasts were fantastic. We would definately stay here again if we decided to return to this beautiful part of India. A really super B & B!
