Staying in one of the rooms is like watching a classic film on the latest technology providing the best of both worlds. The restored theme of Bell Hotels reflects the culture, heritage and the life of what the city was called then Madras.
It is situated diagonally opposite to the Ripon Buildings next to the Chennai Central railway station; it is in one of the most proximate choice for a business traveler or a tourist. The hotel claims modesty and flamboyance in its aesthetics and creates a skirmish of emotions.
Contemporary furniture is offset by rich pickings related to the areas heritage; art-deco theme blends into an area where every modern comfort is catered for. The hotel has a multi-cuisine restaurant Bell Restaurant.

Huge parking space outside the hotel, so if you wish to go out in less crowd and have good non vegetarian food, this place is good to go. Very close to a church, plus close to the beach too. Ambience is good, This place has good lighting compared to other places in Tuticorin. Best dish tasted till now at this place is grilled chicken with mayonnaise. Must visit once

Nice menu. Quantity and quality of food can be increased. service is not good. Very delayed service. food served are not hot. many aspects are lagging. Can improve. many tables are not cleaned at time and are not cleaned properly. Orders are taken after very long intervals. Water is not served and quality of water is not good. Being at a prime location all these things can be done in a better way

I stayed at Bell Hotel on a business trip with one of my colleagues. Staying at Bell does certainly offer a sense of uniqueness given that the "rooms" you stay in are actually shipping containers which have been suitably modified to provide the amenities of a room. The concept in itself is novel and certainly a lot of thought appears to have gone into the design of the structure. Inside the room, you get the basic necessities you would expect of any hotel - twin beds, mini-refrigerator, tv, air-conditioning, cupboards and so on. Basically, the interiors are quite compact but provide the feel of a much larger area. The attached bathroom is made up of proper building materials and you get a wash basin, shower and faucet. Also attached to the rooms is a small sit out area. For the price you pay, it is certainly value for money not to forget that it is also conveniently located. Having stayed at Bell earlier in June 2010, I was somewhat disappointed by the way the management has maintained the rooms. On my previous visit, I found everything to be in spanking condition. I did find some deterioration in the upkeep on this occasion as compared with my previous experience. The bathrooms could do with some repair and the interiors of the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. The room service and house keeping was reasonably prompt. I also found the attached Harbour restaurant to be offering some good food and also appears to be popular with the local crowd. On the whole, my experience at Bell has been positive on both the occasions I stayed there.

The rooms (containers) are quite big and clean (could do with a painting though). Cable tv and mini-bar is also available. There is a room safe, but that does not seem to work. The bathroom is big and clean but does not have hot water - they will send a bucket with hot water if requested. You can have food delivered to the room and the speed at which it arrives is quite amazing! The food is also quite good and well priced. I would stay here again (worth the Rs.~ 850). There is also a generator that comes on a few seconds after any power failure.

Had been on a pilgrimage trip and had stopped over in this hotel. Its not worth to call this a hotel, but a cheap motel in western terms. Looks like blocks of containers are joined to make a hotel. Doesnt have more than 10 rooms and the interiors were so stinking. The not-to-use restrooms are needless to mention. The flush was bad and when enquired, the reception, they confirmed that the basic action is very slow and not as fast as to any other flush. My advice to avoid and stay ( if there are) any other better place.
