Positives: Spotlessly clean, friendly host and hostess(knowledgeable), lovely garden with fantastic views right on the Lake. Food perfect! This little known guesthouse is a gem of a find! The dining area which is shared with Carol and Babu features an enormous table with fantastic views through double wooden doors overlooking the lake.

Booked by my friend, this was one of the best hotels that I have had the pleasure of staying in. The room I had was Emporer sized, beautifully and tastefully decorated with a super-massive bed, huge bathroom, spotlessly clean and with an excellent view to boot. The staff, two young guys (sorry can't remember their names!) working for their unkle (the owner) went well above the call of duty and were genuine, friendly and could not do enough for you. Nothing but the highest praise for them. Highly reconmended - you will not regret for the price - or indeed any price.

We stayed at Carol and Babu's newly acquired property "Hibiscus" over the first weekend of Feb 09. Highly recommend the property for it's cleanliness, value for money, and home like feel. Babu and Carol left no stone unturned to make us comfortable. We reached Udaipur by train, without a formal confirmation of our booking, but Babu was there at the Station to receive us. Their tidbits on 'what to do', 'where to shop', 'what to eat' around in Udaipur ensured that we savored the best of Udaipur while we were there. Thank you Carol for your shopping recommendations - everyone at home appreciated the silver, the home linen, the furniture and the suits we boughts from the shops you recommended. We highly recommend Hibiscus to anybody planning to visit Udaipur and hope that Carol/Babu are able to develop the property further as planned.

My friend Cindy and I, two sixty-somethings are traveling in India and had the incredible good fortune to stumble upon reviews of the Hibiscus. A new property a block from the old Haveli on the Lake, the very low price of the rooms belies the elegance, service, decor, and friendliness of the accomodation. Local textiles in brilliant colors adron the beds and hang from the 12 foot high windows and bedsize windowseats while the floors are of spotless stone. Carol and Babu have created an oasis of calm in the middle of the fabulous city of Udaipur. After two weeks in Delhi and Agra, we really needed it, too. With Carol and Babu's help, we navigated the city on foot, made friends along the way, and came away knowing that we would one day return to Udaipur and see how Carol and Babu follow their dreams of opening a few more rooms off the main dining room, providing a second magnificent outdoor venue for relaxation, perhaps expanding from breakfast to some lunches and dinners. Their attention to detail and warmth make each of their guests feel so special.... Babu rushed home from his orchard property where he was exercising the huge Alfie and baby Oscar (Great Danes) to take us to the airport when the taxi was late. How's that for service? If you are going to one city in Rajasthan, it must be Udaipur. Contact the Hibisus Guest House by e-mail at [-]
