Amet Haveli is one of the best place in Udaipur to get excellent view of the Lake and you feel that are sitting in somewhere in Europe. we visited there for evening snacks and food was tasty. Evening time is best time to visit here.

The restaurant terrace (Ambrai) has the most amazing views in Udaipur: over the lake towards the City Palace and Lake Palace (better to look at the Lake Palace then be in it, I think). Big terrace jutting out into the lake with huge shady trees. Not surprising that it's full and buzzing every night. Also fun to watch the early morning bathers at nearby Ambrai Ghat. We shared a family room (4 of us) which was big and comfortable. We didn't use the pool - small and enclosed. We had a medical crisis while we were there and the hotel manager was very helpful - we woke him up at 1am and he immediately called a doctor who spoke to us and then arranged an appointment at a private hospital in Udaipur the next morning (thank you).

We had a wonderful time at the Amet Haveli and I will certainly recommended it. It has a prime location right on the water, rooms were clean & comfortable and the hotel is really beautiful. If they can smooth some of the finer detail (we were told we booked an entire boat for our group but when we got on we suddenly had to share, restaurant orders were often wrong, bedding provided was still wet etc) It will definitely deserve a 5* rating.

This hotel had everything going for it - fantastic lakeside location with view of the Palace - but it fell short. The room location with lake view was good but the bathroom fittings not clean with poor water supply. The big disappointment was the restaurant - we booked a lakeside table but were made to wait nearly an hour because a group was expected - they did not come till much later - and the table we had been promised had been let to someone else. Staff were willing but were in dirty uniforms. Food was average - not outstanding. This is just poor management - its not inevitable - we had outstanding experiences nearly everywhere else we went in India, I generally look for good things when I review and this is a highly rated hotel. I hope we just caught it on a bad day!

This was the last hotel on our tour of the golden triangle and talk about leave the best til last. To start with Udiapur was our favourite city in India the people are lovely the city is clean and tidy and the people are proud of their city. This hotel was simply stunning, our room (8) had a great view of the lake and we had the pool outside the room. The staff were lovely and all very laid back. The resturant with its fab view of the lake palace was a real treat lovely food and surprisingly a great bottle of Indian wine. t dinner the city is all light up and sitting at you table at the edge of the lake was just so romantic. The hotel is within walking distance of the main markets and other resturants and palaces it is just the perfect base to explore this very romantic city. Watch out at breakfast for the entertainment of the locals cleaning at the temple and the pre wedding filming sessions on the pontoon. Gives you something to enjoy while eating your breakfast!!
