We stayed at the Shiv Niwas for three nights during our two week tour of Rajasthan. We were completely blown away from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Friendly, personal service from knowledgeable and discreet staff throughout. Everything we required was catered for with no fuss and outstanding efficiency. We love Udaipur and we love the Shiv Niwas Hotel. We will return without doubt.

This hotel is part of the large city palace and was used by the Maharaja as a guest house. The location is excellent - overlooking Pichola lake and within walking distance of some of the main attractions, once of which is the city palace museum which is next to the hotel, in the same palace complex. A good way to get a `Palace experience'. We got a room upgrade (else I would have thought the tariff a bit on the high side). Our room was spacious and had an old world charm to it (don't expect very new looking amenities). The staff was friendly and helpful.

Our visit to this hotel was very disappointing. The rooms were very simple and bathroom needs to be renovated! We paid all costs at arrival and the staff comfirmed that all was included. Big surprise was that we had to pay extra for the breakfast next morning. Staff reacted very rude. Never use this hotel again!!!

Good place to visit . Its very much on lake Pichhola & you are in heart of Udaipur . Hospitality is good . Its a good experience to stay here but rooms does not give a feel of palace & are too small in size.

I love this place so much. If you love anything about royal and royal life, this place is so beautiful. Beautiful rooms with best view in udaipur, nice food, nice staffs, the vice president greets me by himself. I feel like a princess. For sure come back again.
