We stayed here from 30th Nov - 2nd Dec. This is the first time i feel sad at leaving a place and that it mainly due to the care and attention you get from the moment you check-in till you exit the gate. Its is a beautiful place close to nature with 10 cows supplying one with A2 milk, turkeys, black (yes black) hens, ducks, rabbits, 2 adorable 4 month old labrador puppies and a wonderful team to ensure your every comfort is taken care of. If you are fine with vegetarian, organic food with zero alcohol and looking for a spiritual, tranquil experience, with occupancy for 8 rooms, this is one place you should probably try. The chef excels in rural ethnic traditional cuisines. We were spoilt for choice with a variety of 6-8 dishes for every meal and yummy snacks in the evening, served piping hot with a smile. I relived my summer holidays at my grandparents in these short 3 days. It is ideally located in case you want to visit the Udupi Sri Krishna, Mookambika Devi and Annegude temples. Thank you Mr. Sivaram and team and looking forward to our next stay in June.

Yes, we have all heard of God's Own Country (Kerala), but here is God's Own Home ! Serene. Peaceful. Quiet. Spacious. Lots of Greenery. Resplendent nature. Clean air (no pollution). Homely. Wholesome food. Excellent Service. If you value these and similar things in life, then Balkatmane is a MUST EXPERIENCE place for you. It's a Resort.....It's a Spa..... For me, it is what I want my Home to be. In fact, in local Kannada language, Balkatmane means a Home (Mane) built (Kat) while living/growing there (Baal). The 5 acre compound is full of, and surrounded by greenery, with an ancient-looking but modern Home. 8 rooms, 4 on the Ground Floor and 4 above them on the first floor, is the limited accommodation, with a beautiful open courtyard and a centrally-located swing, and a huge raised portico as frontage of the edifice. An open Dining Hall near the kitchen makes one feel truly at home. Above this is a Yoga Hall & Library. Antique paintings, telephone & musical instruments, even clocks and light switches can be seen here and there. A well-equipped Spa headed by Ayurvedic Dr. Hita Shetty ensures complete relaxation and rejuvenation. Weight-loss programmes are specially designed depending on individual requirements. Wherever you go, you are greeted with folded hands (namaste) and genuine smiles. The vegetarian fare is primarily local, but the highly experienced Chef Ganesh, is ever-ready to hear about your requirements, should you need anything specific. The Milk, butter and ghee are from the native in-house cows. And you can participate in the traditional method of converting milk to butter and ghee ! The rooms are spacious, clean and with all necessities. WiFi is available, in case you can't do without it. Not far from here are world-famous Temples (Udupi Sri Krishna, Kollur Mookambika, etc.), great Beaches, the Western Ghats, Agumbe (which logs the highest rainfall in Karnataka), etc. The nearest Railway Station is about 16 kms away at Kundapura on the Mangalore-Goa line, and Mangalore Airport is about 90 kms away. The chirping of birds, the cock-a-doodle-doo of the hens, the calls of peacocks, the moos of cows, make up most of the sounds in the quiet. The rabbits are popular with the kids. Flowers and greenery soothe the mind. One can also cuddle up with a book, or a companion and spend quiet time. All in all, a MUST EXPERIENCE sojourn to be with nature, with your self, with Excellence, with God.

Stayed at Balkatmane on the 1st and 2nd September, 2017. Description of the feeling is beyond words. Located in the mist of natural greenery away from the main road, free from all pollution, the heritage structure with the courteous and simple staff was a feeling beyond compare. The natural environs with the cows, hens, peahen and rabbits adds flavour to the natural beauty of the place. Being vegetarians, the staff took pains to provide us sumptuous vegetarian food from Kundapura, 17 kms away. Hats off to this beauty on earth. great experience. will be back to savor more.

Heavenly ambience - my childhood rediscovered. Am awed by the brilliance of the ecosystem. Culture is very tastefully put together. Food - overeating is what I can say. Hospitality at its peak best. People are amazing. Shivram sir, Ganesh Anna and Naveen - I was treated like a VIP. Above all was the rain - just perfect for a relaxed mind and body. Very unexpected reception with a teeka and tender coconut water. It was a memorable experience for me with a desire to visit again and again. Thanks everyone and God bless.
