Located in the state of Uttarakhand, Uttarkashi lies on the banks of the river Bhagirathi. There are a number of temples and ashrams in this region which is enclosed by a blanket of fresh air. The city forms the apex of the state which is also called Devbhoomi meaning 'Land of the Gods'. Apart from its religious significance, Uttarkashi also enjoys stunning natural beauty and pleasant weather conditions all year round. Uttarkashi tourist places are highlighted by the presence of Yamunotri, the source of Yamuna River and a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, at a distance of around 30 km from the city.
