  • Experience was not so good

We booked the hotel for 1 night in the month of December' 2019. The hotel is at good location. It has ample parking space. Food is good. There is restaurant "Khanna Veg Restaurant" nearby which serves delicious food. The reason of giving average rating is - we booked room with extra bed. The room was spacious and clean and extra bed was set before our arrival. But to our surprise, hotel does not provide extra blanket. As per them they dont have extra blanket, they could only provide extra sheet. Somehow we managed with extra sheets, but such service is not at all expected when hotel is charging money for extra bed.

  • Central location for Star Hotel experience

I got a good deal by directly booking room with hotel compared to MakeMyTrip etc. for 1day. Rooms are clean and spacious, good enough for family with small kids. Staff is we'll trained to help you with quick service. There are cheaper hotels also available at Vellore but if you are looking for Hassel free experience, you can go for this hotel. The best thing is its location where you can decide to explore temples/spots of your choice and come back

  • Nice comfortable hotel

We stayed for a day here. When we arrived there was a wedding going on so parking was full when we arrived. The security helped us find a spot though and once the wedding party left, there was plenty of parking. The rooms were clean and well maintained. They have a multi cuisine restaurant on the top floor but the food is quite costly. There is a Veg restaurant (different management apparently) on the ground floor that is an option. The breakfast buffet was quite good in terms of the spread including choice of eggs and dosa to order. Check-in and check-out could have been a little quicker. Overall a pleasant stay.

  • Beautiful rooms ruined by poor service from staff

    by breakthesilence on

I stayed in hotel Khanna Fiesta with group of 7 friends in July 2019. We were allocated rooms on the 1st and 4th floor. According to some local contacts, the hotel was recently newly renovated. However, rooms aside, we felt our experience was marred by the actions of the hotel staff. PROS: -Rooms are spotless clean -They clean rooms everyday and give you fresh towels which is a plus! -The bed is soooo comfortable! My friend an i shared a king bed and when my friend moved in the other side of the bed i could barely feel it on my own side. -The hotel room is generally really comfortable for the price, basically what you would expect to see in a big-city hotel which is surprising since Vellore isnt really near the main hub of Chennai. -There are always autos (the indian version of tuktuks) waiting outside the hotel and they are reasonably cheap and can be bargained with. Some auto-drivers will recognize you after a few days and give you good deals. CONS: -Breakfast spread was the same everyday which may get boring. TIP: You have to approach the waiter if you want to order an omelette or sunny-side up or dosais for breakfast. It is not explicitly stated anywhere. We only discovered this on the 3rd day when we saw a local getting served piping hot omelettes. -Our group of 7 was unfortunate enough to have MANY terrible run-ins with the staff which left a bad impression of the hotel. Don't get me wrong, room-wise, the hotel is excellent, but the staff were not. This is more of a rant, you can skip it if you do not think you will have much interaction with the staff. -BIGGEST staff boo-boo #1: On the one of the last few days of our stay, the hotel staff suddenly approached my group of friends and requested that ALL 7 OF US MOVE OUT of our rooms into ONE suite room (which is only designed to hold 3 people). Upon further probing, they apparently had overbooked the hotel and needed extra rooms. I was really appalled at their request and oversight of the hotel. Naturally we refused, but to make things worse, we asked if we would get a refund if we really moved out, and they said no!! I honestly could say so many more terrible things but just know that the staff are not reasonable or logical! -BIGGEST Staff boo-boo #2: My friends wanted to order delivery from this really popular restaurant in Vellore called Vellore Kitchen. But the staff refused to let them use their house phone or even help them to make the order!!!! In the end, they had to borrow a kind bell boys phone instead. I really could not understand how selfish or legalistic the front desk was, in comparison to their bellboy who probably earned alot less. -Staff boo-boo #3: In India, every hotel/motel/AirBnB needs to fill up what the government calls Form C. Give it a google. Basically the government uses it to keep track of where travellers are staying and what activities they are engaging in. It is good practice to always check if your hotel has filled up your Form C and submitted to the government to avoid any questioning at the immigrations upon departure. From the 4th last day of my stay, I kept reminding the staff to help me fill up Form C and help me print a copy just in case. However, they kept telling me well give it to you tomorrow. This went on day after day, ALL the way until an hour before my transport to the airport arrived. In the end, I had to sit at the staff computer and help them to fill up my own Form C because they had delayed it until the very very very last minute despite constant reminders! -Staff boo-boo #4: On the 1st day, half of us arrived at 3am in the morning. We planned to wait in the hotel lobby area until check-in the next day at 11am because we did not want to waste money paying for another night. However, the hotel staff REFUSED to let us rest in the lobby. We were about to leave to another hotel as they said Khanna Fiesta was full. Then, out of the blue, the staff suddenly said we could have a room but it would cost 3000 rupees. Being tired of the back-and-forth, we relented and paid. It turned out to be a large empty suite room which we were really happy about. As we were settling into the suite, the staff suddenly came knocking and shifted us into another empty deluxe room and said this would be our room for the rest of our stay.. This was borderline ridiculous as we spent about 30mins at the reception hearing from the staff that the hotel was full for the night, yet they actually had so many spare rooms. -Staff boo-boo #5: Another group of friends arrived at the hotel at 10am (we were on separate flights). However, the staff refused to let them have their rooms until 11am. Granted, someone may have been using the rooms so I guess it's understandable. But after the whole hullabulloo the night before, we were getting tired of their excuses. -Staff boo-boo #6: The hotel Wifi runs on a voucher system. This means that everyday you need to request for a new paper voucher with a new wifi password. Luckily some of us bought data roaming. However, for one of my friends who did not have roaming, one of the evenings the staff said that the vouchers had run out. They told him to wait until 10pm for new vouchers. By this time we were realllllllly fed up with the staff but luckily there is the invention of hotspot. SOLUTIONS: -book an additional night because the staff do not let travellers rest in the lobby. -buy your own roaming plan/local SIM card to avoid using the hotel wifi -maybe find another option altogether. I had another group of acquaintances who stayed at GRT and Benzz Park and they did not have any complaints like we did. We visited these 2 hotels as well and the staff seem alot kinder and better trained and the hotels look even more posh and grand.
