After lot of search, we have chosen Inn Pondiville because we were looking for place to relax and place which is near to Auroville.. Talking with Ms Pravina and reviews on the net made our mind fix to this property only. We found more than to our expectations. Breakfast is homely and amazing. Rooms are comfortable however, warm water should come early in the tap (saving of water). Also suggest to change shower. Rooms are very cosy and comfortable..Pool is clean and you feel like your private pool. Atmosphere around you allow you to really relax.Yes Mobile network is a problem but it is sometime better to have it. Good Wifi compensate that..Distance from main road is around 2-3 km so you need a vehicle to come here..Staff is amazingly friendly and simple. No intercom in the room and that may be added.. But since there is no room service provided usage of it is very minimal..Really missed meeting with Praveena. If you want Nirvana ( tranquility ) for few days best place to be in..

If you wish to enjoy your stay in Pondicherry, think twice before coming here! This is a bitter narration arising out of frustrating experience. We booked our room opting for free Wi-Fi and breakfast, sadly neither of which were properly available. Breakfast was, in fact, not even served. Wi-Fi was available in a small corridor encompassing a few cottages, and I believe many good reviews arise from people who stayed in those. We were given a cottage that was probably the most remote, one in which even phone calls were impossible to make (forget Wi-Fi connectivity). There is no intercom facility in the room because of which you'll have to shout for people for any kind of help. No one cares to respond. Instead you'll have to travel all the way to the kitchen or the reception for even a small help such as getting an extra coffee sachet. And no one is present in either of these places or are fast asleep. If I get distressed and decide to approach the owner to talk about these issues, she "expects" us to know that we won't get Wi-Fi wherever we stayed by reading their reviews, when we had clearly opted for a room with Wi-Fi. Silly! Forget using the internet to arrange for an itinerary. Whoever stayed in one of the remote cottages in which we stayed would understand that dogs are a menace here, and you'd have to check for their absence umpteen times before you even step out of your room. They are not tethered to any place, and are free, which adds to the problems. I came here to escape the rat race, to take a break, and all I get in the end is three dogs barking at me. With no way to approach the staff for help and with freely roaming dogs barking at me, my cottage was like a prison. Frustrated, I went back to the room to get my camera from the wardrobe to capture a nice view of the 'forest', and voila, there was a cockroach! I expected wild insects in my room as it was apparently situated in a jungle, but never a cockroach. Food! That'll be provided only if you inform them in advance (probably at least a few hours in advance or so), which is unrealistic in a place dubbed as a jungle. I'll either have to depend on them for food, or run at least 3 kilometers to hop on to the main road to eat. We can say with no doubt that we did the latter, for the staff at the inn were not at all easily approachable as I had previously mentioned. This trip of ours, in the end, turned out to be not a retreat but mere forcible isolation from the real world. Although there are well-maintained amenities such as a sports room and board games available to enjoy, I hardly believe anyone in our situation would enjoy, given the problems they might encounter. This inn, with all its fare share of problems, is too pricey for a day's stay. You can get a cheaper, more accessible and hospitable inn elsewhere. With all due respect, I strongly request the owner/caretaker/staff to change their attitude and cater to the needs of all people and not just those who don't complain. A few good reviews doesn't mean your place is paradise.

Had been there with my family 3 weeks back to just relax and take a break from our busy schedule ! The owners of the hotel Pravina and Sundeep manage this property and their excellent hospitality during our stay made us feel at home ! Right from the stay to the food, everything was amazing ! We appreciate the efforts of each and every person working there whose constant support made us very comfortable. There is a magic person who works in Pravina's team Mr. Ramaswamy . His commitment towards his work was par excellence ! Ask him anything and he will help you immediately ! The food served there is not of a regular hotel type but a typical home made delicacy. What is really appreciative again is that this home made food is served with a lot of love and affection, a rare situation in many hotels or resorts ! Trust me you will not land up with an upset stomach ! Their success undeniably lies in the informal touch they give at every aspect, and to be honest we realized that the service at their place was given from their heart unlike many places. There is a super clean swimming pool and both men and women are allowed inside the pool but only with an appropriate swim suit and they don't compromise on this. Must visit this place to gain a new experience! Relax, rejuvenate in their natural surroundings and enjoy ! Truly a forest retreat !

We chose Inn Pondivile as the venue for our alumni meet based on its Trip Advisor ratings, and boy were we absolutely delighted with our experience!! Pravina was fantastic at responding to our emails requesting for local information, helped arrange an itinerary and gave us the all important tip about registering in advance and in person for the visit to MatrMandir! Inn Pondivile is closer to Auroville than Pondicherry, which is a good thing!! The cottages are set close to each other but with just the right amount of space between them for privacy. Living accommodation is comfortable, very clean and gets the job done. There are aircons in all rooms, yoga mats and umbrellas as well, and towels are changed daily. Hot water was a bit dodgy as it was cloudy and rainy when we arrived, but didn't really bother us much... The swimming pool was super clean and great to jump into on a hot day. Remember to take your swimming gear and glasses, as the water is heavily chlorinated. There was a large covered space where we hung out in the evenings, visited from time to time by one of the many large dogs that co-own the property! What sets the place apart though is the superb contingent of support staff: the ever smiling Rangaswamy and the all-women platoon. Nothing was too difficult for them, and service was polite and impeccable. We were a group of 14 people, and never have I seen such a disparate lot agree so quickly on one thing - that the food was absolutely fantastic. Menus are varied everyday and breakfast ranged from Pongal to Dosais to Appams/Chicken stew to Iddli/Vadais to any sort of egg you fancied. Lunch and Dinner were equally amazing and served piping hot and when requested. Inn Pondivile is a no-brainer folks. Do give the overpriced nonsense in Pondicherry and the overhyped Auroville guesthouses a wide berth...you can thank me later :)

The beauty of simplicity in its rooms, garden, food. And the people, Pravina and Sudeep who run it, their staff that go about making your stay completely pleasant with their warmth and hospitality, and efficiency. Super duper clean rooms. Large, bright, allowing nature to enter your room. This was my second visit there, and I know I will go there again and again. A true retreat.
