We had booked the Blue Homes property over phone about 2 weeks in advance for 3 nights during our trip to Vizag in October 2016. We were driving down to Vizag from Calcutta and planned to stay 3 days in Vizag before heading to Chennai and then Pondicherry. Needless to mention the entire trip was planned accordingly. We reached the Blue Homes property at around 9 pm after having left Calcutta at 6 am. It goes without saying we were dog tired from all the driving and could do with some sleep. The property is not difficult to locate. It is on one of the streets going uphill from RK Beach Road. The locality and surroundings are quite posh and clean. We had stumbled upon Blue Homes on the internet and were really taken by the pictures and description available. On reaching the property we found the entire parking area in front of the property full. I went inside and asked one of the guys sitting at the reception where I could park. He disinterestedly indicated that anywhere would be fine. He was evidently least concerned. We managed to find a parking spot about two or three houses away and then made our way into the hotel with the bare minimum luggage thinking we would come back for the rest of the stuff the next morning once parking space was available in front of the property. No one offered to held us with the suitcase or even asked if we would need any help. We carried our stuff to the room and immediately regretted it. The room was a mess. The bed sheets were dirty with fresh stains and crumples. Clearly they had not been changed after the previous occupants of the room had checked out. The room had a pungent smell - a mix of stale cigarettes, damp and alcohol. We immediately went back to the reception and asked them to provide us with a different room. The guy at the reception nonchalantly told us that there was no other room and that the hotel was packed with boarders due to the long Dussera weekend. It was already late . We were tired and the thought of going back out in search of another place in the dead of the night meant that we reluctantly agreed to endure the night at that hell hole. We insisted that the bed sheets and pillow covers at least be changed. The manager gestured to one of the 3 boys lounging on the sofa to go and do the needful. The boy accompanied me upstairs. He went straight into the room as if to inspect if there was any truth to what I had said about the bed sheets being dirty. He took one look at the bed sheets, then looked at me and said that they were absolutely fine. I had no energy to argue with him and told him to just bring another one. He disappeared only to return after a minute to say that all the bed sheets had gone for laundry and that there were no more sheets available. I went back down to the reception to report the matter to the manager who himself went into a room just behind the reception desk and brought out one bed sheet - equally dirty and thrust it into my hands. I realized that it was a lost cause. Thankfully enough we were sufficiently equipped. We spent the night just barely able to sleep and checked out the first thing next morning. Just a few footnotes: 1. We were not provided with any towels or soap and had to use our own. 2. Despite our requests the manager refused to have the room sprayed with a room freshener although there was a terrible smell. 3. The tariff of the room - which was apparently an AC Deluxe - was Rs.1800/- and the standard of the room was by no stretch of imagination commensurate with the amount charged. 4. The toilet was dirty and uncleaned. There were lumps of sand all over the bathroom floor. 5. The bed sheets and pillow covers were extremely dirty and unchanged. 6. The attitude of the staff was terrible. In fact, a woman would feel very uncomfortable living in such an establishment. 7. No proper designated parking area and the management could care less. 8. No one to help or even offer to help with luggage. No elevators, so you have to do all the lifting. 9. No maintenance and upkeep. The property is in complete shambles. I would never recommend this place.

Room service is not good.. housekeeping boys and reception people are not professional.. bed is shaking, mattresses are convenient... bathroom are not good.. there won't be any towels, door mats, no calling bell.. it's below average.. only thing it's near to beach road

An absolutely horrid experience. We had planned to stay at the Blue Homes property, which seemed to have a real appeal, from what we could gauge from the photographs and descriptions available online. We were driving from Calcutta and intended to spend 3 nights in Vizag before driving out to Chennai. After a 14 hour drive we were exhausted and in need of some rest. But what we were greeted to came as a rude surprise. We chose to stay in the AC Deluxe room. Needless to mention we were expecting, as anybody would, the standard of the room to be commensurate with the tariff (which was about Rs.1800/-). The room that we were given was absolutely dirty. The room had a horrible stink and was also damp. The bed sheets and pillow covers had evidently not been changed after the previous occupants had checked out and there were visible fresh stains and crumples. The toilet was a total mess. There were no towels or soap etc. given. We asked one of the managers at the front desk to have the room cleaned. The manager summoned a boy to do the needful. Strangely the boy kept insisting that the sheets had been changed and that there were no more bed sheets available. He even refused to spray room freshener despite our requests. The manager seemed unperturbed despite our protests. After much persuasion another bed sheet - equally dirty and evidently unwashed - was given to us. Yes. Just given. We were expected to lay it out and do the needful. Thankfully, we were sufficiently equipped and therefore did not have to use the hotel sheets. We were also exhausted and did not want to get into any further argument. It was already about 10pm and Vizag was bustling with tourists (for the long Dussera weekend). We knew it would be difficult to find another place. So we had to suck it up and endure the night. We checked out the first thing next morning and headed off to Chennai.

I found that if I would have got directly to hotel I would have saved lots of money. Also room size was so small as compared to the picture on site. I had to upgrade to next level of room, that time hotel did not consider what I paid to Cleartrip but they charged different amount.

This place is located in a posh area, very near to the sea, nearly 5 minutes walk from sea beach, and is well connected to other parts of the city by auto and bus service. The owner Mr. Gupta is a very nice man, we talked to him over phone about booking. We loved the place as soon as we arrived, and we booked super deluxe and deluxe rooms. Rooms are well decorated, clean and spacious, toilets are clean, food is good, the onion pakoras that we ordered with the evening tea was very tasty. The deluxe rooms are a little bit less spacious than the super deluxe rooms, but have attached common balcony, and have some view. Room rate is really reasonable, overall value for money. If you are not willing to have food here, there are some fast food stalls in the nearby sea beach in the evening, and there is a restaurant in the first floor of a hotel near YMCA, where you can have chinese and north-Indian dishes, we tried it, and taste was good.
