We rented a cottage in Jan 2015 for two nights. We felt it was a pretty decent place to stay. Located 4kms from Mananthavady, this place was easy to locate. We used Google maps to drive there. Cottages are surrounded by coffee plantations. There are other plants/trees in the mix(I saw pepper plant for the first time here). When we arrived, the person at reception spoke only Malayalam. Luckily we had one person in our group who knew Malayalam. Otherwise it would have been a problem. The next day there were two more people and one of them spoke some English. They were very helpful when it came to guiding us, help plan a outing and describing routes. In general people were friendly there and place felt safe. Major downside is lack of amenities for a place that calls itself a resort. Forget swimming pool, snooker/TT tables. There wasn't even a small restaurant or small play area for kids.

A good stay for family. The resort is set around a coffee plantation. very natural surroundings and neat, spacious rooms. It is 3kms from Mananthavady(nearest town). It is a gud choice if you are looking for a budget resort for a family stay.

I had booked this resort for 2 nights starting from 1st Oct 2014. My initial plan was a trip to Kodaikanal on 1st Oct and made all arrangements including hotel bookings. But due to the law and order conditions following Jayalalitha verdict I had to cancel the Kodai plan and decided to go to Wayanad. By then all hotels in Wayanad were full and this was the only one available to me. Booked 'paddy room' for Rs.1900/- per night. This property is located around 6kms from Mananthavady. Followed google maps and could reach the place quite easily. It is maintained by a family, who lives in the same compound. When I reached there at noon time, I couldn't find any vehicles parked and the place wore a deserted look. I could see a few small buildings inside a coffee plantation in the same plot. Initial impressions were not really promising. My fears were confirmed when the attendant led us to the 'paddy room'. Ours was not a cottage but a room inside a single story building. While walking to our room, I could see one of the rooms open and a few men inside. Our room was reasonably spacious, had a coffee table, two chairs, a table with a drawer, a queen size cot and an attached bathroom. But to my utter dismay there wasn't a cupboard to keep our clothes. Searched for a wall hanger at least and could find any. Despite being spacious the room had nothing much to offer. It was dirty with lots of spider webs on corners and small insects. The bathroom was relatively clean and had soap and towel. We then decided to take some rest and thought of switching on the TV. My wife was already searching for the TV remote whereas I was searching for the TV itself. Ouch, they charged me Rs.1900/- per night and didn't bother to keep a TV. Having tired of the journey from Bangalore and not having anything to do, we then took a small nap. While sleeping the power went off and it was very hot out there. Waited for ten minutes for the resort guys to switch on the generator, but never happened. Thought of calling them, but again there is no intercom. The reception was around 200 meters away and I did not bother going there and ask. By that time I was sure asking for a power backup from them was just futile. Evening we went out for some sight seeing and came back in the night. The resort had claimed that they have a restaurant, but it was closed. It looked like closed for ages. The resort attendant on request would bring food from a nearby restaurant which itself was a hopeless place. After dinner, we went out of the room to explore the resort surroundings. It was a coffee plantation, with rooms and cottages and the surroundings were decently lighted up. But we felt all alone there. None of the cottages seem to have any one staying inside and we started feeling a little unsafe and immediately returned to our room. There was no one close by, the reception was a little far, the owner stays even farther, and there was no intercom. It was a long long night, but somehow managed some sleep in between. Next day morning we decided to check out the hotel. Didn't bother with the extra amount I was losing. I gave the owner my feedback but he didn't seem moved by that. He just kept on saying that if I had paid extra 500 bucks he would have provided me a room with a TV. Thought I would be simply wasting my time giving my feedback on the resort, we left the place without any further delay.
