History Sitting atop the beautiful land of our country, Jammu and Kashmir shares most of its area with the Himalayan mountains, and borders along the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. In 1925, during Indian colonisation, Hari Singh was given the throne of Kashmir who ruled here till the termination of British rule in India in 1947. One of the most remarkable decisions taken in the history of Indian legislation was to grant right to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to choose between becoming a part of Pakistan, become independent or merging with India.
