Hotels In Tamil Nadu

History
Tamil Nadu is the southernmost state in India, often called the cradle of the Dravidian culture. With an intriguing history of over two thousand years, this state witnessed the reign of several great rulers. The Pallavas, Cholas and Pandyas are the most prominent among them. Originally referred as Tamilham, this state came into existence as Madras, in the year 1968. However, later it was renamed as Tamil Nadu, bearing a close significance to its ancient name. Currently, it is one of the most urbanised states, bordered by Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry. The state is also one of the major centres of textiles and manufacturing companies in the country.

Attractions
The state is dotted with numerous magnificent edifices, featuring ingenious designs and intricate carvings. In addition to these man-made wonders, the list of attractions here also includes exotic wildlife parks, serene beaches, majestic mountain peaks and mesmerising hill stations. While enjoying a laidback vacation in Tamil Nadu, do not miss the chance to explore Velankanni. This small hamlet, lying on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, is a major pilgrimage site for Christianity followers. A fine example of the Gothic style of architecture, this church represents many biblical incidents on the sidewalls. Vedaranyam, District Science Centre, Koonthankulam Bird Sanctuary, Kodikkarai and Thirunallar are some other attractions that can be explored here.
