History One of the most recent additions in the list of Indian States, Telangana used to be a part of Andhra Pradesh. Prior independence, this state was included in Hyderabad, which was under the rule of Nizams. This region was declared as a state on June 02, 2014 after quite a tussle between Andhra Pradesh and the national administration. Though the Union Government agreed on giving it a separate identity as a state, the state government opposed it for the sake of territorial integrity.
