It plays a great role in making Incredible India even more incredible. Further in the discussion, we are going to talk about one of the destination for a north east tour package, a hill station from where you can get a spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Kudos, if you got it right. We are talking about the gateway to Sikkim i.e. Gangtok. With clouds floating by your side, you feel like you are I heaven at this extremely alluring hill station. Due to everything being just in the right amount, Gangtok can be easily listed as one of the most serene hill stations of India. We have a lot to discuss about this beautiful place and also about Gangtok tourism. So, without wasting any further time, let’s get right into it.

More about Gangtok

The earliest mark of Gangtok in the book of history can be found around 1716, when the construction of hermitic Gangtok monastery started. But it really rose to popularity with the construction of Enchey Monastery in 1840. Located at the lower heights in Himalayas at around 5410 feet, Gangtok plays is a major part of the economy of Sikkim tourism. With the rise of tourism in the place, rules had been laid down to put a cap on the prices for cabs and other commodities in order to safeguards tourists from getting fooled. Forest cover around the city of Gangtok consists of temperate, evergreen, coniferous and deciduous forests with trees species like elm, oak, birch and wet alpine. Other forests you can come across in the region is the Orchids forest which are rare otherwise in the rest of India. So, one thing that is easily clear by now that a Gangtok tour package will satisfy the thirst of any nature lover.

The availability of general services ilk electricity and water are well taken care of by the concerned departments. An uninterrupted supply of electricity is ensured by the power department of Sikkim government while the same for the water supply is taken care of by the river Rateychu. The major religion followed by majority of the population in this city is the Buddhism and you can easily get a glimpse of strong influence of Buddhism culture. Connectivity for the mobile networks is also not a problem in Gangtok as the city has been hit by urbanization quite substantially.

We know that you are definitely excited for your Gangtok holiday package but don’t just put everything in your luggage. Rather than packing a bit wisely will only lessen the total weight which will make it easy for you while on the journey. To keep things clear and simple, we will help you out in deciding your packing list for both the major seasons of this place i.e. Winter (Between October and February) and Summers (rest of the year). So, let’s get right into it.

For the clothing for winter, keep a pair of sweaters, thermals, warm uppers and certainly a jacket to top it all. Don’t plan on relying on a single piece of thick jacket instead you will be better off by layering your apparel.

For the summers, yes, now you can keep it only to a single cool jacket and that will be sufficient. Keep a couple of tees, jeans, shorts and sunglasses.

Rest of the things that will be mentioned are irrespective of the season, so, you should pack them no matter when your Gangtok holiday package is planned for. These items include toiletries like a soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, paper soap, deo’s and a bag to carry the wet clothes. Keep a camera, its cables and a portable battery pack too. Lastly, in any case don’t forget to pack a first aid kit with specialized medicines according to the group you are travelling with.

When to travel?

This time, we thought without mentioning any best time to travel Gangtok it would be rather better to put up what exactly are the climatic conditions during each month throughout the year and then you will be able to decide when is the right time to look for the best tour package for Gangtok.

Starting with the monsoon season which is from the June to Mid-September, you will find the scene to be mostly densely foggy. The temperature values ranges between 17oC and 20oC.

Just after the monsoon comes two months of pleasant and calm climate i.e. the October and September. The temperature ranges between 15oC and 20oC.

Next up is the winters which starts from November and lasts till the month of January when you will experience freezing temperatures.

The months of February and march marks the spring with pleasing climate and temperature between 15oC and 22oC is recorded.

Summer months are from April to June which offers the most soothing and perfect climate with temperature values between 20oc and 27oC.
