About 232 kilometre from Delhi, you can either drive down from Delhi or take a Volvo AC sleeper bus that has pick up points across the city. There are regular buses for Rishikesh by the Uttarakhand State Road Transport Corporation (USRTC) departing from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Else you can take an overnight train from Delhi and arrive in Haridwar early in the morning, and further from the Haridwar railway station you can take a taxi to Rishikesh which is about 20 kilometres away.
Q. What is the best time to go rafting in Rishikesh?

The white-water rafting season commences in February and lasts till June, and then it reopens in September and goes on till the mid of December. The various rafting launch points include Shivpuri, Kaudiyala, Brahmapuri and Marine Drive. The classification of these rafting spots depends on the grade of rapids they cover and your comfort level in riding them. Brahmapuri is a 9 kilometre stretch of choppy Ganges, Shivpuri 14 kilometre, Marine Drive 24 kilometre and Kaudiyala pans 34 kilometre of the most treacherous stretch of the river with rapids of highest level of difficulty.
Q. What is the weather of Rishikesh like?

The International Yoga Festival takes place annually in the first week of March and goes on for one week when yoga enthusiasts from around the world gather in Rishikesh at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram on the Main Market Road of Ram Jhula. The event has an extensive schedule that begins at 04:00 am with a Kundalini sadhana followed by rigorous yoga sessions through the day before culminating with some local cultural dance and musical performances. The Ganga passing by it only adds to the drama of the setting. You have the option to customise the programmes of everyday as per your interests. Make a booking and stay at the ashram through the event, or buy a day-to-day ticket to attend a single day’s sessions.
