Journey Suggestion: The National Highway 1 near Amritsar is in good condition. However, the area is engulfed by a heavy fog during some days in winters. Also, heavy rains during monsoon can cause traffic jams.

Some of the trains originating from Amritsar are Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Amritsar Express, Amritsar Saharsa Garib Rath Express, Golden Temple Mail and Paschim Express. Superfast trains such as Amritsar Chandigarh Superfast Express, Amritsar Shatabdi Express and New Delhi Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express also serve commuters. The city is also connected to Lahore in Pakistan, by a special train known as Samjhauta Express.
